Lunches of Love Service Project Success!
On Saturday, February 21, our gifted students and families participated in a meaningful service opportunity at the Fort Bend Administration Annex β and what an incredible impact they made!
Together, we decorated 1,000 lunch bags to donate to the Lunches of Love organization. Each bag will help provide meals to children in our community while also delivering messages of encouragement and kindness.
The event was extremely well received, and it was inspiring to see our GT students demonstrate leadership, creativity, and a strong commitment to service. Opportunities like this allow students to extend their learning beyond the classroom and apply empathy, collaboration, and civic responsibility in authentic ways.
Thank you to all of the families who volunteered their time to make this event such a success. We are proud of the positive difference our GT community continues to make!
Learn more about additional volunteer opportunities at the Lunches of Love website.

Advanced Projects in FBISD π΅π π’
In the coming weeks, your child's school will provide specific details about their campus's GT Showcase. To help students prepare for their presentations, we recommended that projects be finalized by the end of February. This allowed ample time for planning and polishing.
Each campus will set its own deadline for project completion, so please watch for updates from your child's school. We look forward to celebrating our gifted students' remarkable talents at the showcases!
For more information, visit your childβs campus GT webpage. Navigate to the campus homepage, select "Students and Parents," and then choose "Gifted and Talented."
Students at Innovation Hour campuses worked diligently to complete their projects by the end of February. Their enthusiasm was evident as they created models and developed innovative ideas. We are eager to see their products and presentation at the campus showcases!

GTA Applications and Expo of Excellence
The application for the Gifted and Talented Academy at Quail Valley Middle School closed on February 28, 2026. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance into the GTA or onto the waitlist after Spring Break. Current GTA studentsβgrades 6, 7, and 8βserved in a multitude of leadership roles while the application was open. GTA Ambassadors led 28 daytime school tours for 5th graders and their families, hosting 100βs of interested applicants.
Additionally, over 150 GTA students participated in the GTA Expo of Excellence for 5th graders and their families, guiding parents and families as ambassadors, exhibiting their work as presenters, performing as musicians and artists, and showcasing the strengths of the GTA in the Expo of Excellence on the evening of Thursday, February 12th. Over 300 families registered for the event, and although there is no official attendance count, it was clear that a majority of them attended.

GTA Happenings π
In other GTA news, GTA sixth graders practiced their βel restaurante/la comidaβ vocabulary by visiting and eating at Casa Vaqueros in Missouri City. They also participated in another two-day off-campus and on-campus field experience, volunteering at the Houston Food Bank, touring with the University of Houston Public Arts program at their central campus, and each painting his/her own canvas in an artist-led session. Meanwhile, GTA seventh graders are gearing up for the annual Texas Journeys overnight field experience to San Antonio on March 12th and 13th. Students will tour the San Jose Mission, practice Spanish at El Mercado historic market, explore the Alamo, and conduct scientific investigations at the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment in San Marcos. Lastly, GTA eighth graders spent 2 days both on campus and off campus learning at the Holocaust Museum Houston and participating in discussions, reflection, and a related film study on campus. February was a busy month at the GTA, and thereβs more to look forward to as Spring Break quickly approaches.
