Maple Run Connection
Weekly Update from Superintendent Bill Kimball Aug 25, 2025
December 29, 2025
Message from Superintendent Bill Kimball
Happy Monday, Maple Run!
We hope you are enjoying this first full week of Winter Break, a pause from the usual hustle and bustle of school routines. This past week was short, with school in session only on Monday and Tuesday, and we are grateful for the moments of learning, connection, and community that took place during those days.
Winter Break can bring a welcome chance to rest, reflect, and reconnect with family, friends, and ourselves. At the same time, we know that a break from routine can be challenging for many of us. It’s natural for children and adults to feel a little out of rhythm when schedules shift and the familiar structure of school is on pause.
During this time, we encourage everyone to be gentle with yourselves, to embrace opportunities for joy and relaxation, and to reach out for support if needed. The Maple Run Community Resources page is available to help connect you with supports and services during the break.
We are so grateful for the strength, kindness, and commitment of our Maple Run community. Your care, engagement, and support ensure that our schools are places where every student is seen, valued, and encouraged to thrive.
Enjoy the week, slow down where you can, and take moments to do what brings you happiness and restoration. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school next Monday, refreshed, recharged, and ready to continue learning and growing together.
Stay Informed. Stay connected. Stay supported.
FY27 Budget Update
Staying Informed
As we head into the new year, we want to remind our community about the proposed FY27 Maple Run Unified School District budget. This plan reflects careful, thoughtful planning to maintain strong schools while supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of every student.
The proposed budget represents a 4.13% increase in expenditures, designed to maintain current programs and services—not to add new initiatives. While tax impacts vary by community, this budget ensures our schools have the resources they need to support students, families, and staff.
Even though there are no updates this week, we encourage families to stay informed and engaged:
-
Review budget materials on the FY27 Budget section of our website.
-
Attend upcoming School Board meetings in person or online.
-
Share questions or comments. TapIn@MapleRun.org
Thank you for staying connected and involved as we work together to support every student in Maple Run. Your engagement helps ensure our schools remain strong, stable, and ready for the year ahead.
Wellness Tip of the Week
A Fresh Start for the New Year
As 2025 comes to a close, it’s a great time to pause, take a breath, and get ready for the new year.
The end of the year can feel busy, so small moments of reflection and self-care can help us start 2026 feeling calm and energized.
This week, try a few simple ways to refresh:
-
Notice one small win or happy memory from last year.
-
Set a simple goal for the new year—focus on progress, not perfection.
-
Move your body, even for a few minutes, to shake off tension.
-
Take time to appreciate acts of kindness and support around you.
-
Reach out to family, friends, or colleagues with a kind word or note of encouragement.
Even little moments of reflection, movement, and connection can make a big difference. Here’s to a calm, joyful start to 2026!
Taking time to rest helps us return feeling refreshed, connected, and ready to learn and grow together. As Winter Break begins, we encourage everyone to prioritize what helps you feel balanced and well.
A rested community is a stronger community and it’s one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves and each other.
Attendance Reminder
Starting Strong in 2026
We hope everyone is enjoying Winter Vacation! As we get ready to welcome students back on Monday, January 5th, it’s a great time to think about attendance for the new year.
Consistent attendance, aiming for 95% of the time at school, helps students stay connected to learning, build strong relationships with classmates and educators, and feel confident in their growth. We know that time away from school can disrupt routines, and it can be tricky to get back into the school rhythm after a break.
Maple Run is here to support families and students in maintaining strong attendance. If your student struggles with getting back into routine, or if barriers make attending school challenging, please reach out. Together, we can help students start the new year feeling prepared, supported, and inspired.
Thank you to our families, students, and staff for making attendance a shared priority every day counts.
