From Mrs Tennenbaum

Thank you for your patience, cooperation and support today with a surprise situation. Safety is our number one priority and our staff did a great job today with our students. I appreciate all of us working together. We had a lot of support from the District Office as well as the Violet Township Fire Department to ensure that our building was safe. I am grateful to work with such an awesome community!

It is an opportunity to share your ideas and provide community feedback in the Q&A session. Let's pack the cafeteria to hear about what is happening in PLSD! We have a lot coming up with new board members, new buildings opening, a possible levy and discussions about all day kindergarten.

Thanksgiving Parade Balloons Needed!

We’re still collecting foil character balloons for our school’s Thanksgiving Parade!

We will be getting a helium tank so these can be uninflated. Please drop off to the office or send in with your student by November 20th.

Holiday Store Coming Soon!

Our annual Holiday Store will be open December 8–12. Students will have the opportunity to shop for gifts for family and friends.

Be on the lookout for a handout coming home soon with more details! We will also be looking for parent volunteers to help the kiddos shop and wrap presents. More info to come!

Mark Your Calendars!

The Combustion Euchre Tournament is coming up on January 21. More details will be shared soon — you won’t want to miss this fun night out!

Calamity Days

It is always a good reminder for families regarding calamity days and the procedures if school is delayed or canceled. You can find the information on the district website. Key points are as follows:

Phone and email alerts

  • Pickerington Schools will announce delayed starts and calamity days through pre-recorded telephone calls to current parent/guardians' telephone numbers on file with the district.
  • The District also sends email messages about any delayed start or calamity day via this website.
  • It is important to keep student contact information and contact preferences current by logging into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal website and updating your contact information.

Hazardous weather conditions

  • Information on road conditions from transportation staff, law enforcement and road crews. The district gives careful consideration to the most dangerous roads in the district. They can be treacherous, even if your street looks clear.
  • Accumulated snow and ice.
  • Temperature and wind chill.
  • Impact on transportation services. School bus diesel fuel begins to gel at temperatures of zero degrees or below.
  • Weather predictions (including those from a weather alert service).
  • Building conditions (e.g., electricity, heat, water)
  • Staff shortage/illness in a specific building(s) or districtwide
  • Transportation staff shortage: Transportation modifications will be announced along with the other details of each closure/delay.
