I've heard from many of you that you're heading to the Texas Eclipse Festival. I applied for an opportunity to camp but never heard back. I'm hopeful some group of Camp Contact campers will come together and organize camping there, please reach out if you're wanting support to do this! I learned about VibEclipse, which will be a much smaller gathering, about 200-250 people, located outside of Austin, TX, just 1/2 an hour away from the Texas Eclipse, with a group of people dedicated to community in an unconference style of workshops and events, much like Camp Contact offers! I was able to reach out to the organizers and arrange a 15% discount on tickets, and dedicated cabins for Camp Contact campers! As everything is provided by VibeCamp, there are no additional dues, just the cost of the ticket which includes lodging, food, workshop space, etc. Camp Contact will be providing some event support including soundsystems, lighting and shade. If you are coming, please do register so we can save a spot for your tent, RV or a space in one of the cabins! There is also Monday only Registration if you want to join us for the day!

I've heard from others that there are plans for gatherings in New England! I've created an Eclipse telegram group to help sort out and communicate about the various gatherings across the arc of the Eclipse Totality, from Mexico through the US to Canada! Incidentally, this will be the second Eclipse Camp Contact is attending. In 2017, during Monday of Build week for Burning Man, Camp Contact was in Terrebonne, OR to view the eclipse in all its glory!

Registration is now open for Camp Contact at Burning Man 2024! We are currently working to build out Camp Contact's organizational structure and set intentions for our time in the dust. We understand that many of you don't know your plans and that life is more uncertain than ever, and we welcome your application and statement of interest now, even if you're on the fence! We will do less and take on less this year, as well as being a smaller camp of 150 people, and focusing on building our Contact Improvisation offerings and continue offering Authentic Relating workshops. Cold Yogis will be a separate camp from us this year, and Metamodern Magicians may share some infrastructure depending on their size, I'm hopeful they grow well this year and build their own kitchen! Burning Man Ticket Sales are Starting!

Main Sale tickets on sale Wednesday April 17th

Please plan on getting tickets in the main sale, by registering for it April 10, 2024 at 12pm (noon) PDT – April 12, 2024, and then purchasing tickets on Wednesday April 17th, 2024, getting ready at your computer at 11:30 am and staying on until as late as 1:30pm to complete a purchase. Join us on Zoom for ticket buying on the 17th-- use password "Contact" If you want to camp with us, don't hesitate to register for camp or wait to get tickets, since by registering we can work together to find tickets for eachother!

Want to obtain a Ticket Aid (Low Income) Ticket? Mark the date March 20th on your calendar if you as that is when applications open for these affordable Tickets and Vehicle passes! If you're accepted to receive this discount ticket, you'll need to pay for it at the end of July.

Planning for camp is starting now! So many of you were essential to what made camp great in years past. We will be a smaller camp, and we are wanting a more connected team with a more distributed workload to create our core organizing group together, earlier in the year, to ensure an even better year. We are looking to fill various steward roles! For now, please reach out to dance@campcontact.org if you're interested in getting involved!

Our Camp Layout in 2024

We have reached out to a number of other camps, and are forming a hub with Cold Yogis, Metamodern Magicians, , and BlockHaus (the mobile Steambath camp). Both DECENTRAL and Acrobatica Galactica are taking a year off and will most likely be back in 2025! Villages are being deprecated by Burning Man (see link below), so we won't be in Contact Collective Village. Our Hub will be known simply as Contact Hub. We also expect to be placed next to Naked Heart and related camps. We are aiming to return to the 6:30 area as we have been placed in 2022, 2019 and prior years.

Camp Contact will be attending Playa Del Fuego! Ticket sales will happen tonight - Thursday, April 4th at 8pm, and tickets will sell out! Be ready at 7:45pm with a strong internet connection, and if you can buy additional tickets (up to four) we will almost certainly have campers who need them and will buy them from you!

Camp Contact may be attending Summerisle! Does anyone want to bring camp there in some form? Let Spacious know if so! Tickets are currently on sale as of writing!

The future of Quink is in question after a large brush fire ripped through Twin Oaks outdoor conference center, the location of Quink in 2023 and Planned location for 2024. The fire also claimed a number of utility buildings, but thankfully none of the housing or kitchen/dining areas were affected. Quink is planned to be a more open source, co-created gathering, with minimal organizational structure created prior to the event. It will be a low key gathering of friends, with details to be announced in the coming months!

Camp Contact is attending Transformus! Second Round General Ticket Sales open at 4:20 pm on Saturday, April 27th! Transformus has a new home in Westfield, NC North Carolina, just a few miles south of the Virginia border.

We're getting ready for another Container to the Playa in 2024 thanks to support from our trusty driver Rusty, our Container coordinator Jessica, and a great load in location that we hope to return to! We are hoping to coordinate drop of points in Richmond and Philly again, using our other trailers to move gear from these locations to the main drop off point, please reach out to container@campcontact.org if you can help! Our existing Logo has served us well since 2010 or so when Whit created it for us! I'm thinking we would do well to create something new that expands our presence beyond Burning Man, and dials in our dedication to our principles and to the culture described above. Here are a few designs that emerged from some AI I engaged. I welcome offerings of logo proposals and support around selecting a new logo for Camp Contact! Please reach out! Here are six candidates from DALL-E, an app from OpenAI. This AI is not good at text in images, disregard the errors in the text, we'll fix those later. Camp Contact creates transformational workshops that bring embodiment, awareness, sensitivity and inspiration and offers them at burns! And, we work together to understand and grow in our relationships. This camp is an ever growing network of amazing humans. We are so grateful that, at each event, bonds are foraged and/or deepened.
