SAT Word of the Week
This week’s word is hapless, an adjective meaning unlucky.
Example: “The hapless student arrived at school only to realize he had left his project at home.”
Ask your student to use hapless in a conversation or in their writing this week.
Tips for Families
A few quick ideas for supporting your middle schooler at home this week:
Make math a daily habit. Encourage your student to spend a little time on math each day, work through sample problems, and carefully check completed work.
Help your student take better notes. Suggest starting each class with a fresh page, leaving room to add details later, and using diagrams or other visuals when they help explain an idea.
Make procrastination easier to overcome. Encourage your student to get started even when they are not in the mood. Positive self-talk and simply beginning the task can help build momentum.
