Finishing Strong: Every Day Still Matters Finishing Strong: Every Day Still Matters

As we enter the final weeks of the school year, it can be easy to focus on summer and all that lies ahead. However, these last weeks are meaningful and important. They are a time to celebrate growth, reinforce learning, strengthen friendships, and help students finish the year with confidence. How we end the school year matters; it teaches our learners the value of perseverance, responsibility, and giving their best effort through the finish line.

Here are a few ways families can help students finish strong:

  • Keep routines consistent. Regular sleep schedules, attendance, and daily routines help students stay focused and engaged.

  • Celebrate progress. Recognize effort, improvement, and positive choices—big or small.

  • Ask about goals. Encourage your child to think about what they would still like to accomplish before the last day of school.

  • Reflect on growth. Talk about what they have learned this year and how they have grown academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Stay connected. Attend end-of-year events, communicate with staff, and continue showing interest in your child’s school experience.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support throughout the year. Together, we can help every student finish strong and look ahead with excitement for what comes next.

This is a reminder about our Where Are They Now Wednesdays alumni spotlight. At STMA, we believe our impact does not end at graduation, and our alumni continue to reflect the excellence, leadership, and values of our schools.

Each week, we feature graduates through a “throwback & transformation” spotlight with a graduation photo, current photo, and reflection on their journey since STMA. Our goal is not just celebration—it is connection. We want current students and our community to see that success takes many forms and that every Knight’s path is unique and valuable.

Keep Young Minds Growing: Read All Summer Long! Keep Young Minds Growing: Read All Summer Long!

Reading over the summer is essential to keeping young minds active, curious, and ready for the next school year. Even just 15–20 minutes of reading a day helps students maintain the skills they’ve worked so hard to build during the school year, preventing the “summer slide” and promoting a lifelong love of learning. Families looking for fun, engaging ways to support reading can check out FYCC’s Reading in the Park—a wonderful opportunity for children to enjoy stories outdoors, connect with others, and build their reading confidence all summer long.

Safety Reminder: E-Bikes and Motorized Foot Scooters Safety Reminder: E-Bikes and Motorized Foot Scooters

As the weather warms in Minnesota, our neighborhoods, sidewalks, and trails are seeing more activity, including the growing popularity of electric bikes (e-bikes) and motorized foot scooters. These devices can be a fun and efficient way for students and families to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. However, because they can travel faster than traditional bicycles, it is important that all riders understand how to use them safely and responsibly.

We encourage families to take a few minutes to review Minnesota laws and safety expectations with their children. A few important reminders: the legal age to ride an e-bike in Minnesota is 15 years old and older. The legal age to ride a motorized foot scooter is 12 years old and older. Riders of motorized foot scooters must wear a properly fitted and fastened helmet. We also encourage all riders to follow trail rules, be mindful of pedestrians, and prioritize safe speeds at all times.

Thank you for helping us keep safety a top priority for our students and families.
