Dear Families:
As we move further into the spring season, I want to take a moment to address something that continues to impact many of our students—social media use and online interactions.
We are seeing more and more situations where students are negatively affected by what is happening online. At this stage of development, children and adolescents are especially vulnerable to peer influence, conflict, and the pressures that come with constant connectivity. When left unmonitored, social media can quickly become a source of stress, distraction, and, in some cases, harm.
In addition to these concerns, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence have added another layer of risk. Some platforms now include AI-driven accounts or bots that can interact with users in ways that feel very real. Unfortunately, these tools can be misused, and young people may be particularly vulnerable to manipulation, inappropriate conversations, or exploitation if safeguards are not in place.
This is where we need your partnership.
As adults, we play a critical role in helping our children navigate the digital world safely. That means:
- Monitoring social media use and knowing what platforms your child is using
- Talking with your child about who they are interacting with online and reminding them that not everyone is who they claim to be—including AI-generated accounts
- Setting clear expectations around screen time and online behavior
- Having open, ongoing conversations about digital citizenship, boundaries, and kindness
- Encouraging students to come to a trusted adult if something doesn’t feel right
If we don’t take an active role in guiding and protecting our children online, we risk doing them a disservice at a time when they need us most.
With the arrival of warmer weather, there is also a great opportunity to reset routines. We strongly encourage families to help students unplug, get outside, and engage in activities that support their physical and emotional well-being. Whether it’s sports, time with friends, family activities, or simply enjoying the fresh air, these experiences are essential for healthy development.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. By working together, we can help ensure that our students are safe, supported, and set up for success—both in and out of school.
Sincerely,
Brenda Erhardt

Dress for School
As we begin to enjoy the warmer weather and the signs of spring, we wanted to take a moment to remind everyone about expectations for appropriate dress at school.
We understand that changing temperatures often bring a shift in clothing choices, and we want to ensure that all students remain comfortable while also maintaining a respectful and appropriate learning environment. Our goal is to support a school setting that is safe, inclusive, and focused on learning.
As a general reminder, student attire should:
- Provide appropriate coverage for a school setting
- Be free of language or images that are inappropriate, offensive, or disruptive
- Allow students to participate fully in all school activities throughout the day
If a student’s attire does not meet these expectations, we will address it in a respectful and supportive manner and may ask the student to make adjustments.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home. Clear and consistent communication between home and school helps ensure a positive experience for all students.
