Technology Announcement Technology Announcement

Douglas Public Schools would like to share an important technology update regarding middle school student Chromebooks for the upcoming summer.

Beginning this year, all current Grade 6 and Grade 7 students will be expected to take their assigned Chromebook and charger home with them for the summer and return with the same device on the first day of school in the fall. We will no longer be collecting Grade 6 and Grade 7 student Chromebooks at the end of the school year.

Please note that current Grade 8 student devices will still be collected on Friday, June 12 so they can be cleaned, prepared, and redistributed to incoming Grade 6 students for next school year.

This new approach is intended to help students continue building accountability and responsibility as they prepare for high school, where students already follow a similar take-home model throughout the year and summer months.

If a Chromebook becomes damaged over the summer, families may report the issue directly to the Technology Department and arrange to drop off the device for repair.

We ask that students continue to:

  • Keep their Chromebook in a safe location
  • Avoid damage or misuse
  • Return to school in the fall with both their assigned Chromebook and charger

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. Families may also contact parentportal@douglasps.net for assistance or additional information.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we continue improving and modernizing our student technology programs.

Sincerely,

Douglas Public Schools Technology Department

Is your child missing any clothing??? It may very well be on our window sill in the DMS cafeteria!!

There are 30+ sweatshirts/coats/jackets, etc. Also there are many water bottles, lunch bags and more.

All of these items will be bagged and shipped off to recycling on May 26, 2026.

Please encourage your child to check out the lost items. Also, any parent that might want to stop by and take a look may stop by the office and we will be glad to accompany you to the cafeteria.
