'DO YOUR BEST AT SES' 😊
Monthly Newsletter - June 2025
Dear Salem Elementary Families,
It is hard to believe that we are heading into our last few weeks of school! The final weeks are filled with many celebrations and end-of-year activities designed to make this a memorable time for our students. Please be sure to review the list of important dates in the newsletter so you don't miss any of these special events.
As this school year comes to a close, I want to express my sincere gratitude for a wonderful year and for your continued partnership with Salem Washington Academy. I’ve truly enjoyed my time as a ‘Salem General’ and am grateful for the support and collaboration from families and staff alike.
Wishing everyone a fun, safe, and relaxing summer!
Sincerely,
Damian Switzer

First Grade Hosted the Sweethearts Tea
Educator Appreciation Day
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to our wonderful PTA for the incredibly delicious luncheon that they so thoughtfully provided for our dedicated SWA teaching staff. The teachers were truly delighted by the meal, and we deeply appreciate the time and effort that went into preparing and delivering it.
Our exceptional teachers work tirelessly to provide an enriching and supportive learning environment for our students, and it means so much to us to be able to show them our appreciation through this special treat.
A very special thank you goes to our amazing PTA President, Kayla Moriarty, who personally ensured the luncheon was delivered to the school despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, battling through the rain to make sure our teachers could enjoy the feast. Her dedication and commitment to our school community are truly admirable, and we are so grateful for her leadership.
American Heart Association Recognition
Congratulations to Allyson Lester (Kindergarten), Sophia Harrison (3rd grade), and Elizabeth Earthrowl (5th grade) for their outstanding fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association and children with special hearts. Their contributions of $51.74, $107.08, and $145.33, respectively, have earned them awards from the AHA. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and compassion!
Monthly Character Trait for June: Kindness
Monthly Character Trait for June: Kindness
Kindness is showing care and consideration for others through actions, like helping a classmate with their homework, including someone in a game, or saying kind words when someone is upset. It also means listening when a friend needs to talk, or offering a warm smile to someone who feels lonely.
Being a 'Bucket Filler' means filling others' buckets with positivity—like complimenting a friend on their effort or encouraging someone who is having a tough day—rather than draining their buckets with unkind words or actions.
When we practice kindness, we create a friendly and caring school environment where everyone feels happy, safe, and valued.
