October 2026
Message from Mrs. Antoniello
October is here, and we are excited to begin another wonderful month together! We had a fantastic first month of school, and it has been wonderful to see our students settle into their routines, build relationships, and become more comfortable and confident in their classrooms. Our school is filled with energy, curiosity, and a strong sense of community as students and teachers continue to learn and grow together.
Our new math program is providing our students with exciting opportunities to think deeply and creatively about mathematics. It has been especially rewarding to see students collaborating with their classmates, sharing their thinking, explaining their strategies, and engaging in meaningful math conversations. Students are also getting hands-on experience using manipulatives and participating in math games and activities during engaging math centers. These experiences are helping our students develop not only their math skills, but also their problem-solving, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
We are looking forward to all that October has in store! Week of Respect will take place October 5–9, with a special assembly on October 5 to help kick off the week. We are very grateful to OMH&S for generously supporting our school and helping to make these assemblies possible.
We are also excited for our Book Fair during the last week of October! We look forward to celebrating a love of reading with our students and families. As the month comes to a close, we will enjoy our much-anticipated parade and classroom celebrations.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are looking forward to a fun, meaningful, and memorable October!

"Pawsitively" Kind at OMS!
We are so proud of our students who showed that they are "pawsitively" kind at Old Mill School this past month! 🐾❤️
Throughout the month, students were “caught being kind” by a teacher, bus driver, or paraprofessional for demonstrating kindness, compassion, respect, and thoughtfulness toward others. Whether they offered a helping hand, included a classmate, used encouraging words, or simply went out of their way to make someone’s day a little brighter, these students showed us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference.
A special shout-out to all of our pawsitively kind students! We are proud of the positive example you are setting for our school community. Keep spreading kindness wherever you go! 🐾❤️

Please read the student handbook. As a district, we are committed to fostering respect, responsibility, and safety in all our schools through our updated Code of Conduct. This initiative reflects a collaborative effort among all elementary schools to support students in developing these essential skills for both their academic journey and everyday life.
