Chapman Football Week!
What a fun week we had! Students enjoyed lunch and recess with athletes, a pep rally with the HS Football coach, football players, cheerleaders and band, and team building activities with their buddy classroom focusing on collaboration and working together! We ended the week with our Chapman Tailgate and Football game!
Thank You Chick Fil A Strongsville!
Students from each homeroom had the opportunity to put their PRIDE tickets into a drawing for the chance to have Chick Fil A for lunch with Mrs. Harrell. Congratulations to our students and a HUGE Thank You to Chick Fil A Strongsville for donating lunch for our students!
Thank You Chapman PTA & Families!
Thank you to our Chapman PTA, Family Events Chairs, Volunteers and families for an incredible Chapman Tailgate! A HUGE thank you to Strongsville VFW Post 3345 for their generous donation of food for this event!
We would also like to thank our Chapman PTA and families for organizing and contributing donations to provide dinner for our staff on conference nights. A special thank you to Gran Fiesta Strongsville for their generous donation. Event Information
Congratulations Ms. Ryan!
Ms. Allison Ryan has been in our District for three years as a first grade teacher at Chapman Elementary. Ms. Ryan has strong roots in our District - she was in the very first kindergarten class at Kinsner Elementary, went to Center Middle School, and graduated from Strongsville High School. Ms. Ryan recalls that some of her elementary teachers inspired her to become a teacher. Both her undergraduate and graduate degrees are from The Ohio State University.
“I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be one of my students' first teachers and to create a welcoming environment where they can learn and grow. I truly cherish the special connections we build each year as our classroom community grows in kindness and empathy. Watching my students become excited about their learning and more confident in their abilities makes me so proud. I learn from them every day, and they bring me so much joy! I also value the connections I've built with Chapman families and feel grateful to work with a collaborative team of colleagues who always put students first.”
Thank you Ms. Ryan for creating a positive learning environment for your first grade students at Chapman! #ModelMustang
Second Step Universal Screener Opt Out Letter
Dear Parent/Guardian,
As part of our ongoing commitment to support our students' wellbeing, we will be conducting a universal assessment (DSECS via Second Step) of emotional and behavioral health for students in grades K-5. This assessment involves a brief rating scale completed by classroom teachers. The results will be combined with additional data (PRIDE Tracker, Attendance, and Grades) to better understand our students' needs and to develop effective support plans at the school, class, and individual levels.
Opt-Out Option
Participation in this assessment is voluntary. Families may opt-out of their child’s participation by completing and returning the opt-out form by October 9, 2025. If we do not receive an opt-out request, we will proceed with the assessment during the week of October 13-17, 2025.
For more information about the assessment process or additional social and emotional support resources, please contact your school counselor at (440) 268-5573 or at cbiehl@scsmustangs.org.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Caleb Biehl

Veterans Day Recognition Opportunity: Field of Flags
DAV's Field of Flags empowers our community to set up fields of American flags, all to honor local veterans and raise critical funds to support our ill and injured heroes.
Each flag in the Field of Flags honors a different hero. Behind each flag is a unique story — a story about courage and freedom. A story about sacrifice. A story worth honoring.
Attention Families of 2nd and 4th Grade Students: Testing Notification
Second and fourth grade students will test on October 6 and October 9.

Fall Classroom Parties

Please remember that volunteers that have signed up in advance (This is organized through PTA/room parents). All volunteers must check in with the office, present a photo ID and receive a visitor's badge prior to entering classrooms.
Costumes
Students are able to dress up on this day. A great idea for a costume is to dress up as character from your favorite book. Please remember that costumes MUST be appropriate (NO spaghetti straps, NO bare midriffs, NO inappropriate icons or graphics). Students should wear their costumes, non-violent and simple in nature, to school as students will not be permitted to change into costumes. Look-a-like weapons (including, but not limited to, swords, guns, and knives) are NOT permitted. School appropriate masks will not be permitted to be worn throughout the school day, but may be worn during the party. NO INFLATABLE COSTUMES PERMITTED. This should be a positive experience by encouraging fun and originality.
