A Message from the Williston Schools Leadership Team
by Ayrin Thibault, WCS Assistant Principal
There is something truly special about the start of a new school year. The smiles. The laughter. The shared joy. Over these first few days, it has been wonderful to see students, families, and staff reconnecting in the hallways, sharing stories, and embracing a fresh start. Alongside the excitement and curiosity, a few nervous feelings are completely natural as we all settle into new routines and embark on this journey together.
Positive energy is radiating throughout our building as old and new connections are being made. It is especially meaningful to watch our community come together in real time. Whether it’s answering a question, offering reassurance, or sharing a kind word; these small moments help build a school where everyone feels welcomed and valued. Through our early community-building activities, we are already living The Wildcat Way: We Take Care of Ourselves, We Take Care of Others, and We Take Care of This Place.
When we create space to connect, collaborate, and listen, we quickly realize how much we can learn from one another. In just a few days, I have observed students dive into Advisory Olympics, participate in community circles, and even collaborate on creative skits complete with posters, songs, and dances. Outstanding! Through these shared experiences, students are practicing critical skills: communication, perseverance, and active listening. They are trying new things, working through challenges, and celebrating each other's strengths; reminding us that building a strong community is an ongoing process that grows every time we support one another and embrace different perspectives.
As we begin this year, I am filled with gratitude and anticipation. There is so much to discover, learn, and celebrate together. I look forward to growing alongside our students, families, and staff in a culture where curiosity, connection, and care remain at the heart of everything we do. Thank you for being part of this innovative, thriving community dedicated to collective growth and belonging for all.

Summary: Iris has synesthesia. She has no idea. At first, she simply thinks that everyone sees colors and shapes when music plays, but by the time she's a teenager, it's clear that others don't understand. Struggling to downplay the way she experiences the world, and worrying what it might mean to be different, the young artist is at war with herself until she meets a new friend - and he sees the colors too.
A dance ensemble of colors and the vivid orchestral suite “The Planets” by Gustav Holst bring Iris' experience of discovering her neurodivergence to life in this triumphant, visually stunning coming-of-age story.
