LEWIS ELEMENTARY NEWS
May 6th 2026
"DID YOU KNOW?"
EVERY SCHOOL DAY COUNTS. “Did you know?" May has three 5-day weeks as we hit the home stretch of our last full month of school. We have just 21 school days left before summer break! This is an exciting time when students get a chance to show all they’ve learned in their end-of-year assessments so it’s essential they come to school each day they are healthy. In fact, we’ve just concluded a Math Fact Fluency Competition in our 2nd-5th grades. This year our 3rd grade classes took 1st and 2nd place and 2nd grade took 3rd place, but next year is another opportunity!
This is also a time when our community shares many fun activities, field trips, and celebrations. We want all of our students to feel confident and successful as we wrap the year, both in academics and social-emotional skills — consistent attendance is a key factor to a strong finish.

5th grade promotion
Dear Fifth Grade Families and Lewis Community,
We will be having our Fifth Grade Promotion on June 4th. We are putting party bags together for each student to make things extra special. I am looking for donations for the bags. This can be done by an individual or a group of individuals together. We have 47 fifth graders this year. Gift ideas for the bags include gift certificates for an ice cream cone or slice of pizza, Starbucks gift cards, any local area gift cards, picture frames from DollarTree, candy bars, Oaks Park admission tickets, or other fun little things. Be creative and have fun. If you would like to participate please let me know. Items may be dropped off to the main office anytime prior to June 2nd.

Event Information
Lewis Auction
What a night! Thank you to everyone in our community who came to Brooklyn Carreta on Friday to celebrate AND watch the online auction action come to an end! Thank you to everyone who donated items, placed bids and helped support the Lewis PTA. As always, PTA events would not be possible without a group of dedicated volunteers. Our auction committee this year was led by the positive, fun and extremely hard-working Jenn Vannetta. She was supported by Nicole Koffler, Brian Craft, Erin Grady and Denise Castañon. Day of volunteers: Evin Aksay and Lisa Grandgeorge made the games a success! And another thank you to the event's generous sponsors who allowed us to have live music from the awesome band Dead Famous: Ready Go Couriers, Saint Jane Mercantile, Mike Meade Architect and Beer Store Milwaukie!
