Weekly STAR Family Updates

Good afternoon STAR Parents. This is Mrs. Traumuller, the proud Morehead Principal, with the weekly updates and reminders for the week ahead.

All of our announcements will be place under the "School News" section of our Website (towards the bottom), on Class Dojo, Facebook, Twitter, and the GCS Parent App.)

Let's begin with a huge thank you for all of the people who came to Skate Night where we shared our curriculum and Title One information. A great time was had by all and the PTA had a very successful fundraiser!

This week at Morehead we have many exciting things happening within our hallways and also after school.

• We will have our monthly fire drill this week. Our STAR students did excellent last month and I am sure that they will do another great job!
• Arts Academy Meetings are both Tuesday, from 5:00 - 6:30 and again on Wednesday, from 3 - 4:30pm. Please remember that this is a mandatory meeting for your child to participate in Arts Academy. Please make sure that you attend the meeting that you signed up for to ensure a spot for your STAR student.
• First quarter Interim Reports go home on Thursday, 9/25. Please look for these in your child's folder and returned signed, alerting the teacher that you have reviewed the information. If you would like a conference, please note that on the paper as well.
• School Day Attendance is important for student success. Did you know...
1. Students who miss just two days of school each month end up missing nearly 20 days in a school year — that’s almost a full month of learning!

2. Being on time matters! Arriving just 10 minutes late each day adds up to nearly a full week of missed instruction by the end of the year.

3. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to read on grade level by 3rd grade and succeed in middle and high school.

4. Good attendance builds strong routines, friendships, and confidence — setting children up for success now and in the future.

Looking ahead!

• Fall Pictures on Monday, September 29th.
• Thursday, October 2nd is a teacher workday. No students will be in the building.

PTA NEWS:

Our Annual PTA International Night is coming up on October 24th. Please look into your child's folder this week for the official flyer. If you are new to Morehead, this is one of the most amazing events with a showcase of several different cultures and great food!

P = parking options (please note, we do not have crossing walk guards or staff to assist crossing). B = Buses only! no car or foot traffic! FW= Front walkers - must be escorted and picked up by a grown up, BW = Back Walkers - must be escorted to and brought to staff assisting outside to walk up independently. The Green Line is the car rider line. Remember, one car at a time from varying sides and only turn right out of the school during arrival and dismissal.
