Team 6A Weekly Update
August 25th - August 29th
Welcome to Hickory Creek
Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year! Our sixth-grade students had a great first few days of school. We have been enjoying getting to know them and look forward to fostering a love for learning with them this school year. Each week you will receive a S'More newsletter from Team 6A. This is an important school-to-home connection and communication tool. Please take a moment to review the information shared each Friday about the upcoming week. Reach out to your student's teachers with any questions or concerns.

Welcome to 6th Grade Math!
Class Materials: Binder, 5 Divider Tabs, notebook, HEADPHONES/EARBUDS DAILY!, pencils, and a basic calculator (NO FRACTION KEYS!) 😊
Students will be working collaboratively with their peers during math this year. We will continue to get to know one another, learn classroom expectations, and establish norms for collaboration throughout next week. We will also start to dive into Unit 1: Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple.
Students would benefit from continuing to practice their multiplication facts as well as using their IXL and Khan Academy accounts to practice the skills being studied in class. 😊 See your student’s One Note for suggested IXL skill boosters as well as each day’s “Checklist of Completion” to ensure that your student has completed the in-class/homework assignments for the day. One Note is the best tool to stay connected to what is happening in our math class.

Locker Combination Help!
Students are still working to successfully open their lockers. This will continue to be something that we work on throughout the next few weeks. Support from home is also helpful. Below is a video tutorial that students watched on the first day of school. Continuing to review the process to open a combination lock would be beneficial for any student still working to understand this process.
