Back-to-School Night Brings Our WTHS Community Together!
The halls of WTHS were filled with excitement as families joined us for Back-to-School Night! The evening began with a warm welcome video from Dr. Girard before parents and guardians experienced a day in the life of an Eagle by following their students’ schedules.
During each class period, teachers shared important information about their curriculum, grading policies, course expectations, and daily classroom routines. Families had the opportunity to meet their students’ teachers, visit classrooms, and gain a better understanding of the learning experiences ahead this school year.
During their students’ scheduled lunch periods, families visited the cafeteria where they were provided with snacks while they connected with colleges, community organizations, student clubs, the HSA, Eagles Landing, and other valuable resources for students and families.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our dedicated faculty and staff for creating such a warm and welcoming evening. Back-to-School Night was a wonderful reminder that student success is strengthened through meaningful partnerships among our school, families, and community.
Together, we are making this an incredible year at WTHS—because We Are Winslow Strong!
WTHS Spirit Week: Big Energy, Bold Colors, and Eagle Pride!
From B-Hall to F-Hall, M-Hall to J-Hall, and E-Hall to D-Hall and A-Hall, there was no escaping the excitement this week! Every corner of our building was bursting with creativity, laughter, energy, and Eagle pride as students and staff came together to make Spirit Week 2026 an unforgettable celebration!
The fun began on Tuesday with Adam Sandler Day, when oversized T-shirts, baggy shorts, hoodies, and sneakers brought plenty of laid-back style to the building. On Wednesday, students and staff displayed funny, harmless messages for White Lies Day. Thursday brought the ultimate suburban showdown during BBQ Dads vs. Soccer Moms Day, complete with aprons, polos, cargo shorts, athletic wear, visors, and plenty of personality!
All week long, classes earned points through participation in the theme days and other spirited activities as they competed for the coveted Winslow Spirit Stick. The excitement reached its peak on Friday during Color Wars, with the Class of 2027 representing in black, the Class of 2028 in red, the Class of 2029 in blue, and the Class of 2030 bringing the sunshine in yellow!
The week culminated with a high-energy pep rally and an intense Battle of the Colors! Classes faced off in crowd-pleasing games such as Wig Snatching, Mattress Surfing, and Tug-of-War while nearly 1,300 students filled the gym with cheers, laughter, and class pride. After a week of spirited competition, the Class of 2027 emerged victorious, earning the most points and proudly claiming the Winslow Spirit Stick! Congratulations, seniors!
The Team Behind the Spirit
A celebration of this size does not happen without careful planning, teamwork, and tremendous dedication. Spirit Week would not have been possible without the outstanding leadership of Ms. Feighery and the WTHS Senate. Ms. Feighery began this work during the summer and thoughtfully coordinated every detail—from the theme days and pep rally to the Homecoming Court and Homecoming Dance. She also worked closely with the class advisors to ensure that every class was well represented and had an opportunity to showcase its unique spirit.
On behalf of our students, staff, and administrators, we extend our immense gratitude to Ms. Feighery for her dedication to promoting a positive climate and culture at WTHS.
And what would a pep rally be without an energetic MC? Mr. Stowell helped the event run smoothly—from ensuring the gym was ready and organizing the sound system to keeping the crowd energized while announcing the games. Thank you, Mr. Stowell, for helping make our pep rally such a success!
We also extend a special shout-out to our Marching Band, cheerleaders, Spanish Heritage dancers, and fall sports teams and their coaches for bringing their talent, enthusiasm, and Eagle pride to the celebration. You helped make the pep rally an unforgettable experience!
A tremendous thank-you also goes to our administrators, teachers, counselors, support staff, nurses, and aides for their supervision, assistance, and careful monitoring throughout the event. Bringing approximately 1,300 students together in one space to safely enjoy the activities takes preparation, structure, and teamwork. Our faculty and staff worked together to ensure that students followed the established guidelines and that the event remained safe, organized, and enjoyable for everyone.
And, of course, we cannot forget our students! They did an excellent job following expectations while bringing incredible class energy, enthusiasm, and spirit to the celebration.
This event truly showcased the collaborative spirit of WTHS and what we can accomplish when we work together. Thank you to every member of our school community for making Spirit Week phenomenal.
Our creativity was on display, our teamwork was strong, and our Eagle spirit soared!

Homecoming Action: Our Eagles Came to Compete!
What an exciting Homecoming celebration at our school this week! Six of our teams competed at home during this action-packed week, giving the Eagle community plenty of opportunities to fill the sidelines, show our school pride, and cheer on our student-athletes.
From girls volleyball, boys soccer, girls soccer, and girls tennis to field hockey and football, our Eagles competed with grit, determination, and heart. Guided by their dedicated coaches, our student-athletes proudly represented our school and demonstrated teamwork, perseverance, and outstanding sportsmanship.
Thank you to our coaches, student-athletes, the WTHS Senate, Class Advisors, families, staff, and fans for making Homecoming Week so memorable. What a wonderful time to celebrate our teams, our students, and the incredible Eagle spirit that brings our WTHS community together!
We also extend a special thank-you to our HSA for joining us and supporting our Homecoming Community Day festivities. Your involvement and continued partnership helped make the celebration even more meaningful for our students, families, and entire WTHS community!
Homecoming Court Candidates Get Ready for the Homecoming Dance
During halftime, our Homecoming Court candidates were proudly introduced alongside their families as the WTHS community celebrated this special Homecoming tradition. The excitement continues at the Homecoming Dance, where this year’s winners will be announced and crowned. We wish all our outstanding candidates the very best!
The excitement is not over yet! Our Homecoming festivities come to a close on Saturday, September 26, beginning at 6:00 p.m., when students gather for our “Night in the City” Homecoming Dance. It promises to be a memorable evening filled with music, dancing, laughter, and fun with friends. We will also crown our Homecoming Court winners during the celebration!
We extend a huge thank-you to Mr. Palumbo’s students for using their creativity and talents to design and paint the decorations that will help bring our “Night in the City” theme to life. Your hard work will make the evening even more special for your fellow students!
Homecoming Dance Reminders for Families
Please take a moment to review these guidelines with your student so that, together, we can ensure a safe, fun, and memorable Homecoming experience for everyone.
- The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 6:00–9:00 p.m. in the WTHS Gymnasium.
- All students must present their school ID and lanyard to enter. After checking in, students may put them away and will not be required to wear them during the dance.
- The dance is open to WTHS students only. Outside guests will not be permitted.
- Tickets must have been purchased in advance. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
- Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Students must arrive by 6:30 p.m., as no one will be admitted after that time.
- Students may not leave the dance before 8:30 p.m.
- All students will be searched upon arrival. Items prohibited on school grounds are also prohibited at the dance. If a prohibited item is found, it will be confiscated, the student’s parent or guardian will be contacted, the student will not be admitted, and the WTHS Student Code of Conduct will be enforced.
- Students may bring a small purse or pocketbook, but large bags are not permitted. All purses and pocketbooks will be searched.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support in helping us create a positive Homecoming experience for all our students!
A Winning Start for the WTHS Marching Band!
Our Marching Band is starting the season on a high note! At its first competition of the year, the band delivered an outstanding performance, placing second among 10 competing bands and earning the Best Visual Award!
The band captains and drum major proudly accepted the trophies on behalf of their talented teammates. This impressive achievement reflects the students’ countless hours of practice, dedication, teamwork, and Eagle pride.
Congratulations to our student musicians, band leadership, directors, and everyone who helped prepare them for such a successful season opener. We cannot wait to see what they accomplish next!
A special thank-you to Mrs. Murphy for sharing the wonderful photo and helping us celebrate this exciting moment. What an incredible way to begin the season—keep soaring, Eagles!
History Made on the Soccer Field!
Congratulations to Justice Harrington of our Boys Soccer Team for making school history!
Justice broke two school records by recording an incredible 24 saves in a single game and achieving the record for the most career saves in WTHS history.
These remarkable accomplishments reflect Justice’s talent, determination, focus, and commitment to his team. We are incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone and the hard work that made it possible.
Congratulations, Justice—your name is officially in the WTHS record books! Keep working hard, protecting the goal, and making Eagle history!

There are still several opportunities to see Mr. Kurbansade take the stage:
- September 26, October 1, October 2, and October 3 at 8:00 p.m.

To help us maintain a safe and secure environment for every student, all parents, guardians, and authorized adults must present a valid government-issued photo ID when picking up a student from school.
The individual must also be listed as an approved adult on the student’s authorized pick-up list. For safety reasons, we cannot release a student to anyone whose name is not included on the list or who is unable to provide valid identification.
Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and continued partnership in keeping our students safe.
Learning Rounds Begin Next Week
Attention Staff:
Due to the short week last week, our Learning Round focus next week will continue to be student-to-student higher-level questioning and discussion. Administrators will look for opportunities where students ask thoughtful questions, respond to one another’s ideas, explain their reasoning, and engage in meaningful academic conversations.
Thank you for continuing to create engaging classroom environments where students feel comfortable sharing their thinking, considering different perspectives, and learning from one another.
Missed Picture Day? We’ve Got You Covered! 📸
Students and staff who missed Picture Day will have another opportunity to smile for the camera on November 20. Please mark your calendar for Makeup Picture Day—we look forward to seeing your best smile!
