Dear Steele Families,

We are off to such a wonderful start this school year, and I am so thankful for the energy and support our families bring to Steele. This week is a big one for us with two exciting events!

🌟 VIP Breakfast – Monday, September 8th

We are thrilled to kick off our first family event of the year with our VIP Breakfast! This special morning is a chance for students to bring a “Very Important Person” to share in breakfast together. It is always such a joy to have loved ones in the building, filling our cafeteria with smiles and laughter. Thank you for being part of these memorable moments—we know students treasure them!

📸 Picture Day – Tuesday, September 9th

Tuesday is Picture Day at Steele! Families may send payment with their student to school or conveniently purchase items online.

In an exciting addition, our PTO has generously offered to purchase a class photo for every student. Since we no longer produce a yearbook, this is a wonderful way for each child to have a keepsake of their class this year. We are so grateful for the PTO’s continued support of our students.

Thank you for sharing your children with us each day. Next week will be filled with memories, and we look forward to celebrating together!

Please share this important information with the person that signed up to attend our VIP breakfast tomorrow morning.

When: Monday, Sept. 8
Time: 8:30 - 9:00 AM

1. Parking will be an issue since we have around 300 VIPs attending. Please use the side streets (ex. Bandy, McClure, Columbus, and Pleasant) that are near the school for additional parking. The circle drive in front of the school is for school buses only.
2. Enter through the cafeteria doors on the west side of the school. The cafeteria doors are nearest to our parking lot.
3. Pick up your visitor badge inside the cafeteria. Badges are alphabetized by the VIPs last name. You will see signs on the wall when you enter the cafeteria.
4. A bakery item, juice and coffee will be available for you to take. You can eat in the cafeteria, the library or take your items out to the playground.
5. There is a photo backdrop in the cafeteria if you wish to take a selfie.
6. At 8:50 AM, we allow students to head to their classroom. VIPs are welcome to walk them to their classroom at this time.
7. All VIPs will need to leave the building by 9 AM when our school day starts.

This month’s focus is Respect. One way to think about Respect is “seeing value in all people and things & treating them with care.” Many people feel Respected in different ways. We hope this month inspires discussions with your family about what Respect means to you and how you can practice it together! PurposeFull Pursuits Respect is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.

Please download the Galesburg App. When you receive your invitation email, then you can sign up for messaging. All staff will use this for communication this school year. Once you have the app downloaded, you will see your child's teacher and information in the app.

If you haven't received an email or text, you can reach out to the office to get a code. If you are having trouble connecting, please contact our main office at 309-973-2016

The Shine in #205 program is a way for you to salute any CUSD #205 employee who goes above and beyond what is expected. Whether you are a parent/guardian impressed with that special touch your student's teacher added to a moment, a coworker who thinks their colleague doesn't hear often enough about the great job they are doing, or a community member who witnessed a staff member's commitment to students-you can submit a Shine nomination!
