Crisafulli School News
Mid-August Update
Greetings from JAC!
Our staff has been hard at work preparing welcoming, engaging learning spaces where every student can thrive. There is a wonderful sense of energy and anticipation throughout the building as we get ready for the first day of school, you can truly feel the excitement in the air! We are looking forward to a year filled with meaningful connections, growth, and new learning opportunities.
To begin the year, JAC staff members will share their own goals with students and invite students to reflect on goals they would like to set for themselves. We encourage you to continue this conversation at home before the first day of school. Ask your student about their hopes, dreams, and goals for the year ahead. What would they like to learn or strengthen? What are they especially proud of? As Eleanor Roosevelt shared, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
As we begin this new school year together, please know that we are committed to making JAC the very best school community it can be. We will continue to nurture a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all by living our WPS Elementary Core Values: SPIRIT - Safety, Perseverance, Inclusion, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.
Enjoy the week!
Ms. Kennelly and Mrs. Holmgren

- School Lunch Program
Food Services Website - Click Here.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) no longer allows students to carry a negative balance on their lunch accounts. While all first meals will be free, extras such as snack items, cookies, bottled water and extra entrees or second meals will not be free. If your child does not have money on their account, they will be denied the purchase. In order to avoid an awkward situation it is strongly encouraged that you maintain a small balance on your child’s meal account. This can be done by creating an account on MySchoolBucks.com or by sending a check or cash to school with your child. The cafeteria staff can add the funds to their accounts.
Free and Reduced Lunch - An approved application may qualify your children for additional assistance with bus passes, kindergarten tuition, before and after school care and activity fees. The application can be found Here.
- Website Information - Much of the information you need to know can be found on the Westford Public Schools website: https://www.westfordk12.us/, and also on the Crisafulli School website: https://www.westfordk12.us/cs
District Information
Dear Westford Parents/Caregivers,
We are writing to share information regarding the new MA DESE MCAS Family Portal, which was recently launched, allowing families to review individual MCAS results directly online. Every public school district has been asked to disseminate the individual registration codes from the state in order for families to access this new DESE platform. Westford Public Schools will be doing so directly through your PowerSchool Parent Portal.
When the PowerSchool Parent Portal opens to access your child’s schedule, parents and caregivers of students who were enrolled in grades 3 through 11 in our district at the end of last school year will be able to view their student’s MCAS registration code.
A detailed letter will be located directly on your PowerSchool Parent Portal in the same section where report cards are posted. Once you can access your letter and registration code, you will be able to set up your account on the state’s DESE MCAS Family Portal.
Please note that additional information regarding MCAS portal setup for students registered over the summer will be shared in a separate communication soon.
Volunteer Information
CORI’s and Fingerprinting - Field trip chaperones will be required to complete the fingerprint obligation in addition to the annual CORI background check. Please refer to the following link for more information regarding fingerprinting - Fingerprinting Information.
Classroom volunteers will not be required to submit to fingerprint based background checks but will still be required to complete an annual CORI background check. If you are interested in volunteering please be sure to complete a new CORI application for this school year. CORI applications can be completed at any of our school offices. If you have children that attend more than one school in Westford, only one application is required. If approved, your approval will be valid at all Westford schools.
Our shelves are empty! Please help stock the teacher supply closet for the spring. We are in desperate need of paper towels, tissues (it’s allergy time!), pencils, and cleaners. Click on the link to go to our Amazon wish list and have supplies shipped straight to the school or send supplies in with your student.
