Special Area Spotlight

We will spotlight a special area class each week to share the amazing things that are happening in Art, Explorations, Library, Music, P.E., and Wellness classes.

This week we will be learning about our Art class! Mrs. Seitz is our very talented Art teacher. She has reconfigured the art classroom into an Art Studio where students have many material options to choose from when creating their art.

During the first cycle of Art class students have been learning about the expectations and routines in the Art Studio! They have taken a tour of all of the amazing centers such as drawing, painting, collage and the book nook.

Dot Day!

The Dot is written and illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds. The child in this story dislikes art class because she is convinced, she can’t draw. Her teacher gently encourages her to begin with a single dot and her creativity takes off. The story celebrates the creative spirit in everyone.

This year we are going to join in "The Dot" activities as well as talk about growth mindset and the Power of Yet during the week of September 11th - 15th. We invite students to wear polka dots on Friday, September 15th for Dot Day!

A growth mindset means that we believe with hard work we can accomplish difficult tasks. When things seem difficult for us, we tell ourselves that we can't do it YET but we will keep trying!

Please check out this video to learn more about Fixed and Growth Mindset:

Attendance

Attendance Information ~ If you have a child who will be absent or missing class time, please send an email (from the email you have listed in ParentVue) to: SWattendance@pvsd.org. This will count as your call-out AND parent excuse.

Please include in your email:

  • the date of absence
  • student’s teacher and grade
  • the reason for the absence.

An absence is considered unexcused when the child’s school has not received an email providing an acceptable reason for the absence within a 3-day period. Parents may also call our office at 484-961-7064. If you do this, you would still need to submit an email with the above information in order for the absence to be excused.

Any medical notes should be scanned or sent to SWattendance@pvsd.org or sent in with your child.

Educational Travel

Parents/Guardians need to provide written request for the students involved in an educational trip taken during scheduled school days. Students may be excused from school attendance to participate in an educational trip during the school term at the expense of the parents. An Educational Trip Request form must be submitted prior to student’s departure.

Approval for such trips is limited to five (5) school days per year. Additional days will be classified as unexcused and be subject to legal attendance regulations.

A signature of the parent(s)/guardian(s) must accompany the application. Every effort should be made to avoid proposing trips during the State testing dates for students in participating grades (3, 4, and 5) as such absences cannot be recorded as excused.

Please see the testing schedules for PSSAs on our district website: https://www.pvsd.org.

Please complete the Educational Trip Form Elem & MS and return to the Schwenksville attendance email SWattendance@pvsd.org prior to the student’s departure. Thank you for your attention to this process.
