Dear Falcon Families,

I want to thank all our parents who ran for our School Site Council! I am excited to announce our two winners: Jessica Garry and Mulyani Kawibawa! Our first SSC Meeting is this Thursday, October 2nd at 3:00 pm.

We recognize our monthly Character Trait winners this past Friday at our weekly flag assembly for the character trait of Responsible. For October, our character trait will be Safety.

I want to thank our students who attended Saturday School this past weekend. We will have two more opportunities for Saturday school at Fern; December 6th (which is our annual Holiday Performance) and March 7th.

PTA News: our PTA is busy planning our Trunk or Treat event taking place on Friday, Oct. 24th. Students submitting an entry for the PTA Reflections contest are due Oct. 3rd to the office. See the flyer below for more information. Finally, we are anticipating the arrival of Spirit Wear orders on Oct. 3rd. Stay tuned for more information about delivery.

Encore here at Fern Drive is planning to expand our after school programs for grades TK-6 starting in January 2026! If you’d like your student to be part of this opportunity, please take a moment to express your interest by October 31st by clicking the link below or scanning the QR code on the flyer. If your student is currently in Encore, you do not need to do anything.

Exciting news! Mark your calendars for the Champions for Children Block Party on Saturday, October 18th, at Pacific Drive Elementary School. This family-friendly event will provide valuable information and interactive activities for parents and students. Additionally, we will host a community resources fair and opportunities for families to celebrate their cultures through cultural performances, displays, and interactive experiences. Plus, it’s a SSOAR Saturday School, giving students a chance to make up for an absence! Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!

Attendance is key in student achievement and success at school.

Thank you for ensuring your Falcon attends school on time every day that they are healthy.

If your child will be absent, please use this google form to clear their absence. You may also call the school attendance line to clear an absence. Independent Study MUST be requested on THE DAY of the absence. For vacations, parents must request Independent Study TWO weeks before the absence.

Each week we hold a raffle for class attendance. Each day, if the class has 100% attendance, the teacher sends a raffle coupon up to the office. On Friday's we draw a primary and upper grade class winner. The winning class receives 3 class Gotcha's, a 10 minute extra recess and has the Falcon mascot in their room for the week.

Lunch and breakfast will continue to be free for all students daily. We will still do a lunch count daily so please discuss with your student the importance to take a correct lunch count. Some students bring a lunch to school and then at lunchtime go get a school lunch. This results in some lunch shortages of the choice meal that day. Lunch options are still available and all children will be fed but often when this happens, the "lunch of the day" runs out. Please review with students the importance of this an accurate lunch count.

• You can drop off meds anytime starting now between 9 AM - 2 PM through the first day of school.
• You will need the IHP form - linked here

A reminder, if your child will need crutches or a cast and/or splint to begin the year, or any time during the year, please fill out this form and bring your child by the office to check in. We will need to ensure their safety prior to entering campus.

As always, please call the office with any health-related information, questions and/or concerns regarding your child.
