BY VOLUNTEERING YOU CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE!!
When volunteers commit to serving at a school, students achieve higher grades, have access to more opportunities, and gain community connections to help them thrive.
Edmonds School District serves 20,000 children and youth - we are committed to carefully screening volunteer candidates to ensure student safety as required by law, District policies and the Washington Schools Risk Management Pool.
- All volunteers must pass a background check, it takes one to two weeks to get approved.
- Approved volunteers will stay active for one calendar year from application approval.
SUN BUCKS 2025 Information
SUN Bucks is a USDA program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer, administered by DSHS in Washington State. Families will get $120 for each eligible child to buy groceries during the summer. Children who get SUN Bucks can still participate in other summer meal programs. Receiving SUN Bucks will not affect children or families’ immigration status.
In Washington, SUN Bucks will be pre-loaded onto a special EBT card for each eligible child in your home (separate from any other EBT card your family may have) and mailed to your home. If eligible, you can use SUN Bucks benefits to buy food like fruits, vegetables, meat, whole grains, and dairy at grocery stores and other places that accept EBT benefits.
- If you received Sun Bucks support during the summer of 2024 and qualify for this summer, please ensure you have your Sun Bucks Card from last year. Funding for this year will be added to the same card.
- If you have misplaced or lost your card from summer 2024, you will need to contact the SUNBUCKS DSHS HELPLINE at 833-543-3230, to request a replacement card.
- If you are new and qualify this year, a new card will be sent to the address we have on file for you
Your child is eligible for SUN Bucks if your child:
Already participates in SNAP, FDIPR, TANF or other programs directly certified by DSHS, or
Household income meets the requirements for free or reduced-price school meals
If you believe your child(ren) will qualify for SUNBucks but you did not fill out an application, prior to June 6, 2025, for Free/Reduced meals for the 24-25 school year (or qualify through other means), you can apply directly for the SUNBucks program on the website. Please use this link to apply directly: https://sunbucks.dshs.wa.gov/en/
