A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families,
In an effort to help you get caught up at a busy time of year, you can look at the following as items on a possible To Do list!
Artsonia
I’m Julia Barrett, the art teacher at RES, and I’m excited to share that I am setting up Artsonia accounts for your children's work! Artsonia is a fantastic digital platform where your child’s artwork and artist statements will be displayed, creating a lasting portfolio that grows with them throughout the years. What makes Artsonia even more special is that you can purchase items featuring your child’s artwork—such as notebooks with their work on it, T-shirts, coffee mugs, and more—should you want that.

SAEBRS Permission (3rd and 4th grade only!!!)
SAEBRS is a self-assessment that each student will complete on the computer during their Health classes the week of 11/4/24. The material that went home provided you with some context for what this will look like. If you have questions or concerns about this, please contact Lori Arsenault, the RES School Counselor.
This does require parent permission, so please fill out this Google Form to choose to allow or opt your child out of the MySAEBRS screener AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Check the lost and found as it is REALLY piling up!

Halloween Parade and Fesitivities
I wanted to reach out and say that we, the staff at RES, try hard to include our community and families in all that we can. We want our families to enjoy time with their children. We received some negative feedback about our Halloween parade and assembly and and it was difficult to hear. We are always open to feedback and will consider it when we feel it fits in with our safety and logistical capabilities. Again, we really did enjoy having our community here with us today and we hope to have this continue for years to come!
Mrs. Piper Sings in DC!
I was invited by FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education (foodallergy.org)) to share my original song about food allergies at their 2024 summit in Washington, D.C..
As a parent of a child with severe food allergies, it was an honor to perform at this amazing event where I learned a great deal about innovative products, best practices and coping strategies related to food allergies. I am proud to share the knowledge I gained about food allergies with RES students in our world language health classes!
Community Book Club with RJH!
The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt and Greg Lukianoff explores the cultural shifts that have contributed to a rise in anxiety and mental health issues among today’s youth. The authors argue that changes in parenting styles, social media dynamics, and societal attitudes towards safety and emotional well-being have created a generation that is more anxious and less resilient. They offer insights into the implications of these changes and suggest ways to foster greater emotional strength and resilience in young people.
Complete the book over the holidays and join us for two virtual sessions of meaningful conversations and connection as we navigate these crucial issues together!
Wednesday, 1/22/25 from 7-8 PM
Wednesday, 1/29/25 from 7-8 PM
Conferences
Conferences are NEXT TUESDAY! Teachers will reach out with a way to sign up for a time but we want you to be aware, this non-school day is a conference day! We hope to have 100% family participation.
PLEASE know that our Unified Arts teachers (art, music, PE/Health, STEAM, Outdoor Education, World Language and Library/Media) are all available and willing to sit with families that day if you are interested. Please email prior to the time so the teacher is prepared and available.
