Rincon Community News #26

Principal Weekly Message
February 7, 2026
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the start of the week posed some unsettling situations that unfolded. Despite those hurdles, we are using this opportunity to foster open dialogues about real-world issues that impact us all and how to navigate issues that generate a lot of passion. Our classrooms have been and will continue to foster productive dialogue. We believe it's essential for our students to engage in discussions that matter, and we are excited to announce the formation of a new Principal Advisory Council. This council will allow students to voice their thoughts and ideas and be the change they wish to see in the world in safe and appropriate ways.
In addition to this initiative, we had the pleasure of celebrating high-quality writing at the annual writing celebration at Bear Valley. A heartfelt congratulations to our talented writers who were recognized for their outstanding work:
6th Grade
- Lilyana J
- Andrea A
7th Grade
- Aidan G
- Charbel G
8th Grade
- Christopher R
- Daniela A
Congratulations to all our young writers for their hard work and creativity!
Thank you to all for supporting the celebration of our 100th day of school. Our Rincon Bulldogs stepped up for our community by participating in the 100 Day Non-Perishable Food Challenge! Together, we collected over 1,000 food items for our local food pantry, making a meaningful impact right at home. A huge shoutout to all our advisory classes for their dedication and generosity. Together, we’re proving that Bulldogs truly know how to make the world a better place!
Thank you once again for your continued support. Together, we can make this a fantastic year for our students! Together we are better in setting up our Bulldogs up to B.A.R.K (Believe, Achieve, Respect, and Kindness) for success!
With gratitude,
Principal Meglich

Grief and Loss Support Group
Dear Rincon Families,
Rincon Middle School is offering a Grief and Loss Support Group for students who have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling, grandparent, friend, or another important person.
Over eight 50-minute sessions (March–May), students will learn about grief, develop coping skills, share their story, and connect with peers. Groups are small (8–12 students) and are co-led by a trained childhood bereavement professional from The Elizabeth Hospice and the School Social Worker.
The group is on campus during school hours and free to attend. Exact dates and times will be shared once enrollment is full. If you feel your child would benefit from this supportive group, please fill out this form to express interest. Spaces are limited, so early registration is encouraged.
The deadline to enroll is February 19th. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Take care,
Ida Batiste

Black History Month
Dear Bulldog Families,
As Black History Month is underway, we invite our school community to join us in celebrating and recognizing the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans.
Black History Month is a meaningful opportunity for students to uplift Black voices, honor achievements, and deepen their understanding of the impact Black leaders, innovators, artists, and changemakers have had—and continue to have—on our world.
What’s Happening at School
Our library will feature a Black History Month display highlighting influential Black individuals, along with books and resources that reflect Black history, culture, and lived experiences.
Inspirational quotes from influential Black figures will be posted around campus throughout the month to spark reflection and conversation. One example students may see is:
“The time is always right to do what is right.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In classrooms, teachers may choose to incorporate age-appropriate activities such as literature, music, art, discussions, or projects connected to Black history and culture.

6th Grade Chaperones Needed!
Hello Rincon Families!
6th grade will be taking a field trip to the Safari Park on March 30 and the 31st. We will need chaperones for both days. If you could please let us know if you are interested we will be sending out more information when the dates get closer. Thanks in advance! Fyi: we will need you all day including on the bus, and we will pair you with your kiddo and will know which day each student is going at a later date. If you respond now and then change your mind or you cannot attend the assigned day, that is totally fine. It should be a great time as the Safari Park is always a wonderful host!
Please include your preferred day (either the 30th or 31st) and reach out to your child's science teacher via Thrillshare or email.
