From the HHS Admin Team
It’s hard to believe we are already approaching the halfway point of the semester! This is a great time to check in with your student and see how things are going. Ask them what’s going well, what they’re enjoying, and if there’s anything they’re finding challenging or could use some extra help with.
If your student is finding a class challenging or struggling to keep up, encourage them to connect with their teacher and ask for support. Our counselors are also available to help students work through challenges, whether they need help with school or just need someone to talk to. Reaching out early can make a big difference.
We also have a long weekend ahead! We hope our students and families take some time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the beautiful fall weather. A little time to step away from school, spend time together, and reset can go a long way as we head into the second half of the semester!
Enjoy the long weekend!

Home / School Connection 🏡
Recent Raider Way Lesson
In our recent Raider Way lesson, students took exciting first steps toward mapping out their future! Using SchooLinks, students completed the "Would You Rather" interest assessment to connect their personal strengths and preferences with potential career clusters and pathways. From there, they explored Huntley High School course offerings and electives that aligned with their interests. To round out the activity, students identified two career clusters and selected six electives that spark their interest, emailing these choices to themselves to help guide their upcoming 4-year high school plan.
To help extend this learning at home, use the questions below to start a conversation with your student about what they discovered.
- What career areas came up for you during the Raider Way lesson? Were there any results you weren't expecting?
- You explored two career paths that matched your interests. Which ones did you pick to look into, and what made you curious about them?
- During class, you emailed yourself a list of six high school electives you found interesting. What were some of those classes?

HHS Principal’s Student Leadership Council (PSLC)
Huntley High School’s Principal’s Student Leadership Council (PSLC) strives to build a strong relationship between students and administration. Composed of a diverse group of students in grades 9–12, the PSLC serves as the voice of the student body to the administrative team, with members acting as student ambassadors for the school.
The Council meets with school administrators throughout the year to provide input on school issues. Members commit to serving for one year and are expected to attend all scheduled meetings. Meetings will be held throughout the school year on Late Start Wednesdays at 7:15 am in the Black Box Theatre.
The Council seeks a diverse group of students across 9th–12th grade, including students involved in various activities and those who are not. All interested students are encouraged to apply.
In addition to the full PSLC team, a smaller core team of representatives will meet more regularly with administration. This team will help lead large group discussions, facilitate activities, and direct special projects. Core team members will be selected directly from the application pool.
The application deadline is Friday, October 16th. Students who are selected will be notified via email by October 23rd, and the first meeting will be Wednesday, October 28th at 7:15 am in the Black Box Theatre.

Announcements & Reminders 📣
Upcoming PreACT Testing
On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, all juniors will take the online PreACT assessment at Huntley High School. This assessment is an important step in preparing for the State of Illinois’ testing requirements.
The PreACT is designed to mirror the ACT, providing valuable practice and insights into the test format and content. In the spring, our freshmen and sophomores will also participate in the state-mandated PreACT assessment, which will help them gauge their readiness and focus their preparation efforts for the ACT during junior year.
In preparation for the PreACT assessment for juniors on October 20th, please be aware of the following details and schedule changes designed to ensure a smooth and successful experience for all of our students.
For October 20th, please be aware of the following information:
Seniors will not be in attendance this day. Seniors can take advantage of the day off by visiting colleges or completing college applications.
Freshmen and sophomores will report to their classes as usual. Classes will begin at 7:30 am.
All blended classes will blend for the day. Some classes that have mostly 11th/12th-graders may also blend.
Juniors will test periods 1-5 and will have lunch during 6th period. They will then engage in junior class-related activities for the remainder of the day.
The circle classrooms (“C” wing) on the 2nd floor will be closed from 1st through 5th period. If you have a locker in this area, you will not be allowed to access it until 5th period. Some classrooms/hallways will be closed till 7th period. Please plan accordingly.
Classes on the 2nd floor, “C” wing, will be moved to accommodate testing. Those room moves will be communicated to students one week prior. Room moves will be posted on the doors of the 2nd-floor classrooms, the windows of the College and Careers office, East POD, near Door 27, and near the upstairs “C” wing.
More information regarding testing will be emailed to junior students and families the week of October 5th. While our curriculum is designed to prepare students for the PreACT, there are additional free practice tests and resources available on the ACT website. If there are questions, please contact Mrs. Langhenry at klanghenry@district158.org.
