Parent Info Night is Wednesday! Picture Day is Friday!

Dear BES Families,

This Wednesday night is our annual Parent Information Night! We will have fun family activiites for RES and BES families beginning at 6pm in our gym, centered around the 7 Mindsets. Come learn about how we implement this in our classrooms and schools. We will also have childcare available with LHS students so parents can listen to a presentation about our academic structures. Come learn about how we assess students and plan for each student's learning. We will go over Target Time, MTSS, PLC, Fastbridge assessments, AND even state assessments! It's a lot - but it is so very important so you are clear on how it all works. It will also be great info as we head into parent-teacher conferences!

Don't forget picture day is this Friday! Students take their pictures first thing in the morning, before PE and recess! The information for ordering is below.

Please sign up to donate blood at BES! We had the American Red Cross here on Wednesday to explain how important it is and how we can help save lives. Forms went home and if your student is able to get adults in their lives signed up to donate - they will earn prizes and be a Pint Sized Hero! You must register so there is enough beds, equipment, and of course - snacks! The information is below.

Also below, we have a Season Support Newsletter with information for families needing assistance this winter. Please check it out!

Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up on October 9th and 10th. Please note we have different times than Rockville. Our conferences on October 9th are from 4-8pm and on the 10th they are 8-12pm. The sign-up will go out this Wednesday to all families.

Have a great week!

The kids made some great cards and signs for Mr. Kern! In a fun coincidence, our Mrs. McIntire happened to be on the same flight to DC and was able to experience the Honor Flight too. He loved all the cards and signs.

BES Blood Drive

We are partnering with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive. Just like our CPR lessons in PE, this is also meant to educate our kids on the importance of donating blood when they are older!

Seasonal Support Newsletter

Believe it or not, cold weather and the holiday season are fast approaching. We wanted to share with you some free resources for winter coats, Thanksgiving meal baskets and Christmas gifts (Christmas gift program is for Louisburg children birth to 18). There are deadlines to each that, again, as far away as they seem, will be here in no time. The added expense of winter coats and holiday costs can be a heavy burden. If your family could benefit from a little extra support to ease that burden, then we hope these resources will do just that! Please see our newsletter to learn about some wonderful resources! Mindset Minute

This week we begin discussing the mindset, EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE. This mindset gets us dreaming big, thinking about what we hope to accomplish, what we want to learn or get better at and what we want to become. Being able to envision these things in our future enables us to think about how we get there and then make choices each day that point us in the direction of our dreams. We will have conversations about dreaming big, embracing creativity, thinking positive and learning to act & adjust.

Pedestrian Crosswalk at 68 Highway and Aquatic Drive Pedestrian Crosswalk at 68 Highway and Aquatic Drive

As you have probably seen, there is a new pedestrian crosswalk and beacon being installed at 68 Highway and Aquatic Drive. It will be a similar beacon and crosswalk that is in place on South Metcalf, by Ron Weers Park. There have been some installation delays so it will not be installed when school begins. We will have a school staff member out at the crosswalk and the city is working on some temporary signage. The hope is to have the crosswalk fully functional by the end of August.

We urge extreme caution at this crosswalk until it is fully functional.

Attendance and School Calendars Attendance and School Calendars

Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.

Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!

If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.

GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!

Great Attendance for August!!

Congratulations to the Classroom Winners!
