A Message from Ms. Osmerg
Welcome Back!
We are absolutely delighted to have our students back in the building. The energy and excitement during these first days of school have been truly inspiring. We are so proud of our Jaguars for diving into learning and settling into their daily routines with enthusiasm and focus.
We’re excited to invite you to our Curriculum Night on Thursday, August 21st. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to learn more about their child’s daily learning experiences, classroom routines, and schedule. Please refer to the times listed in this newsletter. We hope to see you there!
To ensure you stay informed, please keep your contact information up to date in Infinite Campus. Having the most current phone numbers and email addresses on file is essential for timely communication. Our Hilltop Happenings newsletter is sent via email approximately every two weeks and is the best way to receive school-wide updates and information about upcoming events. If you’re not receiving it, please check your spam folder or filters and verify your email address in Infinite Campus.
Lastly, we encourage all families to review the 2025–2026 Family Handbook (attached below). It contains important information to support a successful school year.
Thank you for your continued partnership. We’re looking forward to a fantastic year together!
Sincerely,
Jill Osmerg
ACTION ITEM: Fulton County Schools Code of Conduct and Discipline Handbook
Each year, families are required to read and sign off of the Fulton County Schools Code of Conduct and Discipline Handbook. Before or during Sneak-a-Peek, you will need to complete the electronic sign-off for this handbook. I have read and completed the electronic sign-off for the Fulton County Schools Code of Conduct and Discipline Handbook. Please follow these steps to sign off:
- Log into the parent portal and click Documents
- Select “Needs Attention” and scroll to the Signature Page.
- Select the red signature box to complete the form.
- Select SIGN to agree or DECLINE to disagree.
- Click submit.
ACTION ITEM: Fun Run T-Shirt Size
We need your child's Fun Run t-shirt size. The Fun Run shirts are covered by our PTA, making them free for your child. If you have more than one child at Abbotts Hill, you will need to fill out a new form for each child. When filling out this form, please note that after you make a selection, the next question will appear. Thank you! https://forms.office.com/r/Gf74MEvbLu
ACTION ITEM (if purchasing): Device Insurance
During the verification process, families may also choose to enroll in the Optional Student Device Protection Plan. This affordable plan provides coverage for accidental damage, loss, or theft of district-issued devices. Click here for device protection plan information.
Each student in Fulton County Schools (FCS) is issued a school-owned device to support learning in and out of the classroom. This year, we are switching to charging full price for damaged and lost devices, as opposed to the reduced fees that we have previously charged. To help families avoid unexpected repair or replacement costs, we offer an Optional Student Device Protection Plan that provides affordable coverage throughout the school year. Enrolling in the plan gives families peace of mind and helps ensure that students have uninterrupted access to the technology they need.
What the plan covers: accidental damage, loss or theft, device replacement or repair without disruption to your student’s learning.
How to enroll:
• You may sign up for the Optional Device Protection Plan during the Online Census Verification process in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
• For more information, including plan details and coverage terms, please download the FCS Student Device Handbook
If you are deciding now to add the device protection plan, please see the attached document for directions on how to add the plan. If you have any trouble doing so, please fill out this contact form or contact the IT Service Desk at 470-254-4357.

Student Success Skills
Student Success Skills are a set of standards that will be taught in all schools, to all students, by all teachers throughout the school year. Teaching these skills will support students in creating a foundation for managing emotions, healthy relationships, understanding and empathizing with others, being responsible and safe, and learning to cope with difficult life situations. Personal Electronic Devices
Personal Electronic Devices
Cell Phone Policy Update (18f.II):
Students in grades K–8 are now prohibited from using personal communication devices (e.g., cell phones, tablets, recording devices) during school hours. These items should not be brought to school unless explicitly authorized by school personnel for educational or medical purposes. Unauthorized use may result in disciplinary action and device confiscation.
The updates to Policy IFBGA: Electronic Communications align with Georgia’s “Distraction-Free Education Act,” which will restrict personal device use.
• Elementary and middle school students (grades K-8) will be prohibited from accessing personal electronic devices during the school day. Click here for more information on what you need to know.
• A personal portable electronic device is defined as anything capable of transmitting, receiving, or accessing communications, data, or media, including but not limited to personal laptops, smartphones, smartwatches, tablets, smart glasses, e-readers, headphones, and other devices with functionalities such as wireless communication, internet access, messaging, video recording, gaming, social media access, or data transmission.
• For a list of frequently asked questions about the Electronic Communications policy, click here.
These updates are designed to reduce distractions, promote responsible technology use, and ensure that all students have reliable access to the learning tools provided by the district. For more information, click here.
Students who are found with cell phones/smart watches, in use or for personal communication or displayed during the school day when not approved by school administrators, shall have the cell phone/smart watch confiscated by a school administrator. Unauthorized use of cell phones/smart watches in the cafeteria is prohibited. (i.e., pictures, videos, etc.). Please note that the Fulton County Code of Conduct has increased the use of personal communication devices during the school day to a Level II offense. Inappropriate recording and distribution using personal communication devices is now a Level III offense. Please refer to the Code of Conduct Handbook on the Fulton County website at www.fultonschools.org.
Cafeteria News
The Fulton County School Nutrition Program is excited to announce that we’ve transitioned to a new meal payment platform, MySchoolBucks, to better serve our families.
- This upgrade will offer a more user-friendly experience and improved features.
- Please note that any existing meal account balances on MyPaymentsPlus will automatically carry over to the new system.
- Families will need to create a new account on MySchoolBucks.com
- If a student’s lunch account carries a balance for three consecutive days, a courtesy meal (not the regular lunch menu items) will be provided until the account is brought up to date. This measure ensures that no child goes without a meal while also encouraging timely account management. We kindly ask families to monitor their child’s lunch account regularly and add funds as needed. If you need assistance or have questions about your account, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our cafeteria manager, Rosana Klein.
Lunch Visitors can join their students for lunch starting the third week of school - August 18th. This allows our students and staff to establish a routine during the first two weeks of school. Thank you for your cooperation.
ACTION ITEM: To apply for free and reduced meals online, please click here to get started! Please note that applications must be filled out each year and do not "roll over" each year.
