Here's an update from Ms. O'Shields
October is College Application and Exploration Month across West Virginia!
This is a month for students to learn about and explore their options for what they can do after graduating from high school, whether that be a 2-year or 4-year college, trade school, technical school, apprenticeship, or military service. At the primary school level, we are focused on helping students learn about the different careers and jobs available to them.
To kick off College Application and Exploration Month, I would like to share information about the "When I Grow Up" Essay contest which is put on by the SMART529 Savings Program. This optional essay contest is available for students from Kindergarten through 5th grade; the essay contest runs from October 5th through December 11th. For this contest, students write about what they want to be when they grow up in 200 words or less. Students can win up to $5000 that will be put in a SMART 529 savings account.
Look out for the "When I Grow Up" essay forms that will be sent home at the beginning of October.
Please reach out to Ms. O'Shields by e-mail, phone, or SeeSaw with any questions!
PTO Connection
Thanks to all who supported MRP PTO at Manhattan Pizza for our Spirit Day! We appreciate you! We hope you can join us for our Mountain Ridge Community Day on Oct. 24th!
We are holding a candy collection competition between all grade levels. We're collecting bags of candy this month to prepare for our campus event and need your help! Please consider sending in a bag for your child to add to their grade level candy 'Monster' that is ready to eat the bags in each hallway. Each grade level collection will be weighed each week to see who collects the most candy for our Community Trunk or Treat day.
Emergency Cards
All students need a completed online emergency card every year. Thanks to everyone who has already submitted one! We're still missing several. If you haven't filled one out for your child(ren), do it today!
Absences
If your child misses school, please send a note within 48 hours so it can be coded correctly!
