School Nurse Hall

While seasonal influenza (flu) viruses are detected year-round in the United States, flu viruses are most common during the fall and winter. The exact timing and duration of flu seasons can vary, but influenza activity often begins to increase in October. Most of the time flu activity peaks between December and February, although activity can last as late as May.

The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get the flu vaccine. It can reduce flu illnesses, doctors' visits, and missed work and school, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations.

Good health habits, like covering your cough and washing your hands often can help stop the spread of germs and prevent respiratory illnesses like the flu.

Please let the school nurse know if your child is absent due to the flu. If possible, please send in confirmation of results. Fax # 512-268-1853.School

Summer School for Credit Recovery (6th, 7th & 8th)

Discuss Semester grades with your student! Credit must be earned for all core classes including English, Math, Science and Social Studies. That means their semester average must be a 70% or higher for the 1st semester. If they are below 70% for the 1st semester, they could be in jeopardy of attending Summer School to recover credit for not mastering the core coursework.

Email wms.support@hayscisd.net

for more information

or to talk to their school counselor in detail.
