Superintendent’s Excellence Award – January 2026
Gavin Haber, Preschooler at ACS
West Bloomfield School District is proud to honor Gavin Haber as the January 2026 Superintendent’s Excellence Award recipient! Nominated by Ms. Weller and Ms. Squires, Gavin is a preschool student at ACS who brings resilience, joy, and kindness to his classroom each day. He comes to school ready to learn, shows enthusiasm for hands-on activities and creative work, and is a caring and thoughtful friend to his peers. Gavin truly embodies what it means to be a Laker, even at a very young age.
Breakfast with a Champion
It was great to see residents, business owners, and community partners come together for meaningful conversation and connection. Congratulations to West Bloomfield Chief of Police Dale Young and his team, and thank you to the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce for hosting last week's Breakfast with a Champion event.
Laker of the Month
This month, we honored Cheryl Caplan, Third Grade Teacher at Scotch Elementary, as our January Laker of the Month. Nominated by Kristi Law and Nicole Jones, Cheryl represents the best of what it means to be a Laker through her dedication to students, support of colleagues, and deep connection to WBSD. Her impact reflects not only her own commitment, but also her family’s long-standing dedication to WBSD. We are grateful for the heart and dedication Cheryl brings to Scotch Elementary and to Team WB.
