Prayer for the Assumption of Mary

Loving God,

On the special feast of the Assumption, we thank You for the gift of Mary,

the Mother of Jesus,

who was taken into heaven to live with You forever.

Her life of faith and love shows us how to follow Jesus.

Help us to trust in You like Mary did,

and to share Your love with others.

Holy Mary, now in heaven with God,

pray for us.

Amen.

Liturgical Dance – Catholic Performing Arts Festival

Eugene, Casey and I had the joy of attending the Liturgical Dance section of the Catholic Performing Arts Festival, where our students delivered a beautiful, prayerful and reflective performance. It was a moving expression of faith and creativity. A big thank you to Emily Watkins for her dedication and the time she devoted to preparing the students for this special event.

Piano Solo Performances

Congratulations to Charlie (Year 5), who received an Excellent certificate, and to Isabella (Year 4) and Piper (Year 5), who were awarded Outstanding certificates for their piano solo performances. What a fantastic achievement, well done to all!

Staff News

Casey will be taking some well-deserved Long Service Leave for most of the remainder of the term. We wish her all the very best on her upcoming adventures. A big thank you to Eugene for stepping in to support both roles during this time, your flexibility and teamwork are greatly appreciated.

In Week 5 of this term, I will be attending the National Catholic Education Conference in Cairns. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with Catholic educators from around the country and to explore ideas that support our ongoing school improvement journey.

We have also recently advertised teaching positions for 2026 to cover staff who will be taking planned leave. Further updates regarding staffing will be shared once appointments are confirmed later in the year.

Working Party: School Charism and Vision

On Tuesday night, we welcomed a small working party made up of staff, parents from across the year levels, past Principal, Eugene Lee, past student and teacher (now Principal) Nic Gaglia, and CEWA School Improvement Advisor Lina Bertolini.

The evening began with a school tour, followed by a collaborative workshop focused on revisiting and refining our Vision, Mission and Values. We shared the progress we have made so far and received valuable feedback from those present.

We’re excited to now begin working with our students as we move toward transitioning our school factions to names that reflect a deeper connection to the founding religious orders, the Servite and Mercy Sisters and the charism of St Denis School.

Warm Regards,

Sarah Potts

A group of students recently showcased their musical talents at the Catholic Arts Festival, captivating audiences with heartfelt piano solos.
