Doors Open At 8:10 AM
Dear Parents
Please be advised that our doors open promptly at 8:10 AM, which means I need your help with early drop-offs. If you are dropping your child off before 8:10 AM, please remind them not to run, kick any type of playground balls, hit others, or play games that involve running or chasing. We have noticed an increase in inappropriate behaviors in the front, and we need your help to ensure these behaviors stop.
Please note that the front drop-off area is not supervised by staff before 8:10 AM. We do have YMCA services conveniently located inside our building from 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM for your convenience. Please contact the YMCA at (281) 392-5055 or jocole.rogers@ymcahouston.org for more information.
Additionally, if you arrive after 8:30 AM, you must park your car, walk your child into the building, and complete the tardy form in the foyer using the iPad provided. This is an expectation for all students arriving late.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding our requests. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter.
Regards,
Ms. Langley

ALL TRANSPORTATION CHANGES MUST BE OFFICIALLY MADE WITH THE FRONT OFFICE.
Attendance Notes: All attendance-related documentation, including absence notices and doctor’s notes, should be emailed to useada@katyisd.org . This ensures timely and accurate updates to your student’s attendance record. Please include your student’s full name, grade level, and the date(s) of the absence.
Student Delivers: To ensure timely delivery of items such as lunches, water bottles, and homework/assignments, please bring them to the school by 10:00 AM. This helps us make sure your child receives everything they need before their day begins. Thank you for your cooperation!
Early Pick-up: Picking up students before the end of the school day will result in a partial-day absence. If your student has a doctor, dentist, or other medical appointment, please provide documentation from the provider to the front office upon return.
Students needing to be picked up early for afternoon / after school appointments must be picked up before 3:00 pm.
Safety Reminder: Morning Drop Off
Please remember that our morning drop-off procedures are in place to keep all students, staff, and safety patrol members safe.
- Please use the drop-off line to bring your child to campus. The front parking area is reserved for parents with scheduled appointments or campus business and is not a drop-off area. Extra traffic and pedestrians in the drop-off line create safety concerns.
- Please remind your child to exit the vehicle on the sidewalk side and remain on the sidewalk after getting out.
- Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. are considered tardy. Parents must enter the building with their student and sign them in at the front office.
Thank you for helping us keep arrival safe and efficient!
Attention Parents of Car Riders - PM Dismissal
Please be in the car rider line by 3:35 p.m. so your child is ready for pickup. During the first few weeks of school, dismissal may take a little longer as students learn the routine. If you arrive after 3:55 p.m., you will need to park and come to the front entrance with your car rider tag or a photo ID to pick up your child. Thank you for your cooperation!.
Parent/Guardian Lunch Visitors
** No Lunch Visitors until Tuesday, September 8th ***
Attendance and School Hours
When children miss school, they miss more than just a day of lessons. Every absence can impact their learning, friendships, and confidence.
-
Learning: Each day builds on the next. Missing class can create gaps that, sadly, can be hard to catch up on.
-
Friendships: Children miss out on playing, learning, and connecting with their classmates.
-
Routines: Daily routines help children feel secure and successful at school.
-
Opportunities: Specials like art, PE, library, field trips/special programs, and small-group instruction/support are often missed when students are absent.
-
Future Success: Good attendance builds habits that can lead to stronger grades and long-term achievement.
EVERY DAY COUNTS! When children are in school regularly, they learn more, feel more confident, and build stronger connections.
- School Hours 8:23am - 3:40pm
- Tardy Bell Rings - 8:30am *Require Parents to enter the building to sign-in students
- ***Students are marked ABSENT if they arrive AFTER 9:50am***
- Early Dismissal Time (according to Katy ISD Calendar)- 12:25pm

A Message From the Principal
From Carole Langley
Dear Stephens Elementary Families,
Welcome back, Stallions!
Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend. Thank you so much to all of our wonderful parents and community members for coming out to make Family Fitness Night such an energetic success. Your enthusiastic participation showed our students just how fun and rewarding staying active as a team can be. We deeply appreciate your continued support in building a healthy, active, and connected community together!
Additionally, please help us maintain our level of excellence because it is a shared effort. While academic rigor remains our top priority, our focus continues to be nurturing well-rounded, confident learners who are supported every step of the way. Please check our our NEW Parent Portal which will support at-home learning (link listed below). Also, continue to prioritize the importance of coming to school DAILY & on time! When children are not at school & arrive late they are missing out on some valuable learning opportunities. We look forward to celebrating Perfect Attendance with them & with you throughout this school year.
We encourage you to stay connected throughout the year by joining our fabulous PTA, checking our weekly newsletters, and following our updates on Facebook & Katyisd.org.
Thank you for trusting us with your children’s education. Together, we will launch our excellence!
Let's Go Stallions!

Bus Routes & Smart Tag Bus Tracking App
If your student is a bus rider, look for the white route number on the side of the bus when tracking their bus this school year! And make sure to download the Smart tag™ app from your mobile Google Play Store or Apple App Store! The Smart Tag app allows parents to set their preferred notifications, including when their child’s bus is expected to arrive. You can also see when and where your student boards and exits the bus.
