BFA Preschool March 12

March 12, 2026
A Note from Preschool Director, Mrs. Hafner
It has been such a fun and meaningful week in preschool as our students took part in our school’s Charity Week! The children loved participating in the different dress-up days, and it was wonderful to see their excitement and creativity while being part of something that helps others. The fun truly never stops in preschool!
As we head into Spring Break next week, we hope it is a wonderful time for all of our families. If you are enjoying a staycation, we hope it brings a relaxing break from the usual routine. If you are traveling, we wish you safe travels and an amazing adventure!
With the beautiful spring weather arriving, we can definitely feel a little spring fever in the air. We hope everyone returns from break well-rested and ready for the final nine weeks of school. Our teachers are excited to finish the year strong as we continue helping our students learn, grow, and prepare for their next big step—whether that’s Pre-K or Kindergarten next year. 🌷☀
Have a wonderful Spring Break, and we look forward to seeing everyone soon!

SEM (Science, Engineering, Math) Spotlight
This week in SEM, we dove into the science of spring weather! We explored how rainbows are formed, taking prisms outside to refract sunlight and even creating our own rainbow art with "rain" spray. To wrap up, we dove into the water cycle, with the kids building their own models. The week was filled with exciting experiments, including making rain clouds, watching a mini-tornado in a bottle, and demonstrating static electricity to show how lightning works.
Try This At Home: Make a rain gauge with your child! Take an empty clear bottle and remove the label if needed. Draw measurement lines on the outside using a permanent marker. Place it outside on rainy days, and after the rain, let your young scientist check how much water collected.
Sending sunny smiles,
Mrs. Amy
Social & Emotional Learning – Sharing and Helping 👯🧑🏽🤝🧑🏽
This week, both Preschool Threes and Pre-K focused how to get along with each other and helping others.
🌼 Preschool Threes: Learning About Building Confidence🐻🎈
Our Preschool 3’s learned how they can be everyday heroes during our lesson “Character Kids Save the Day.” 🦸🦸 We talked about using our “superpowers” like kindness, honesty, helping others, and responsibility to solve problems and help our friends. The children even looked in a mirror and shared how they can be heroes!
We read Duck in the Truck, where several animal friends worked together to help Duck when his truck got stuck in the mud. This story helped us talk about cooperation, teamwork, sharing, and waiting our turn.
We also read Up the Creek, the story of three friends who faced challenges during a canoe trip but succeeded when they finally worked together as a team. 🚣
Through stories, discussion, and activities, we practiced thinking about how we can help our friends, work together, and be heroes in our classroom every day.
🌟 Pre-K: Understanding Feelings😀😒😕🥹
Pre-K:
This week our Pre-K friends focused on learning how to play fairly with others, especially when using classroom instruments and toys. We practiced taking turns, trading, and sharing, and talked about how these are fun and fair ways to play together. 🥁🎶
We read the story The Rainbow Fish, which helped us talk about how sharing with others can lead to friendship and happiness. Students discussed the difference between taking turns and sharing, and we practiced ways to make sure everyone gets a chance to play.
We also watched the story “Howard Learns to Get Along,” where Howard had to learn that being selfish—like cutting in line or not letting others play—can hurt friendships. The children talked about how we should treat others the way we want to be treated, make things right when we make a mistake, and give everyone a chance to have a turn. 💙
Our class practiced playing fairly during a fun game of “Doggie, Doggie, Where’s Your Bone?” and discussed ways we can all be good friends while playing together.
We also read The Boy Who Wouldn’t Share, a story about a boy named Edward who learned an important lesson about sharing after keeping all the toys to himself. This helped us talk about why sharing with others is important and how it helps everyone have fun together.

BFA 13 Virtues
March Virtue is...
BFA's Guiding Principles
Mission:
Our mission is to create young adults with character like America's founding Renaissance man, Benjamin Franklin: well-read, scientifically curious, and civically engaged.
Vision:
Our students will excel academically through a challenging, sequenced curriculum that emphasizes math, science, the arts, and literacy. We will be a data-driven institution, focusing on individual students. Our students, teachers, parents, staff, and leaders will be held accountable for the success of our school. Finally, we recognize that an education is incomplete without fostering social emotional development, character, sports, and nature.
13 Virtues:
Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Purity and Humility.
