Message From The Principal Message From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we move through a busy and rewarding term, I would like to take a moment to celebrate the many achievements, opportunities and special events taking place across our school community.

First Holy Communion

Our Year 4 students recently celebrated the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. The Masses were beautiful celebrations of faith, reverence and community, and it was wonderful to see so many families gathered to support the children on this important step in their faith journey.

My sincere thanks go to our Year 4 teachers and our Sacramental Coordinator for their dedication and care in preparing the students so thoughtfully for this special occasion. The commitment shown by staff, families and parish members helped make these celebrations truly memorable.

Upcoming Events

Thank you in advance to the P&F who are organising the Father’s Day Breakfast this Friday. We look forward to seeing, fathers, father figures and grandfathers at this special event.

Our students have been busy preparing for the Speak Up Awards. This public speaking opportunity helps build confidence while learning to share their ideas with clarity and conviction. Speak Up awards will take place at school in the Dance Hall on Thursday 17th September. On 12th September, our TSH (Teach, Speak, Hear) students will deliver their speeches at the Power of Speech event in Wembley.

We also have a group of students preparing for the Tournament of Minds (TOMS) competition. Tournament of Minds is an international problem-solving competition that challenges students to work collaboratively in teams to solve demanding, open-ended challenges. Students are required to think creatively, apply critical thinking skills, and present their solutions to a panel of judges. Our Tournament of Minds teams will compete at ECU Joondalup on Saturday 5th September. We wish all participating students the very best and thank you to all who have supported them in their preparation.

Attendance Matters

A reminder to all families about the importance of regular school attendance. Every day at school provides valuable learning opportunities, social connections and experiences that cannot be replicated when students are absent.

Students attending school only 70% of the time will miss the equivalent of approximately three years of schooling over 10 years of their primary/ secondary education. This can have a significant impact on both academic progress and wellbeing.

Just as important is arriving at school on time. A positive start to the day helps students settle quickly and be ready for learning when the bell goes. Thank you to families for your ongoing support in ensuring children attend regularly and punctually.

Athletics Carnival

The recent sports carnivals were a tremendous success. The beautiful weather provided perfect conditions, and it was wonderful to see students enthusiastically participating, encouraging one another and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship.

A special thank you to Miss R and all staff involved in the organisation of these events. Their hard work behind the scenes ensured the carnivals ran smoothly and provided enjoyable experiences for all students.

A Time for Renewal

I will commence System Leaders Renewal Leave (SLRL) from 3rd September for two and a half weeks, returning to school in Week 10. This is a wonderful opportunity provided to school leaders to pause, reflect and renew both personally and professionally, for which I am very grateful.

During this time, I have chosen to undertake a self-guided pilgrimage following in the footsteps of Australia's first saint, Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop. I am looking forward to this time of prayer, reflection and renewal and am grateful for the opportunity to deepen my understanding of her legacy and contribution to Catholic education in Australia.

During this time, Kristy Graffin will be the Short-Term Principal.

Student Placement Considerations for 2027

As part of our planning for the 2027 school year, families are invited to complete the Class Placement Information Form if you believe there is significant information about your child that the school may not already be aware of and which may assist us in the class placement process.

Our teachers and leadership team take great care in creating balanced classes that support the academic, social, emotional and wellbeing needs of all students. We ask families to trust this process and the professional judgement of staff.

Please note that requests for specific teachers is not part of this process.

2027 Class Placement Information Form

Thank you for your partnership and trust as we work to create the best possible learning environment for every child.

When the holidays arrive in a couple of weeks we trust you find time to relax and enjoy value time with friends and family.

Warm regards,

Kerry Hewitson

Principal

All Souls Liturgy Friday 30th October

All Souls' Day is a holy day within the Church, set aside for honouring those who have passed away into eternal life. We invite families to attend a liturgy on Friday 30th October to commemorate those who have passed away. Father Stan will guide the liturgy, commencing at 10:00am in the Prayer Garden. You will also have the opportunity to dedicate a butterfly and place it on our memorial wall, if you have not done so already. The liturgy will be followed by morning tea.

Students are welcome to attend the liturgy. They will need to be collected by a parent or guardian from their classroom before the service and walked back to their classroom at the conclusion.

If you would like to attend the liturgy and morning tea, please RSVP via All Souls' Liturgy Friday 30th October

Please reply by Monday 21st September. We look forward to a special morning together.

NAPLAN

Students in Years 3 & 5 recently received their NAPLAN reports. Results reflect consistent growth, steady improvement, and the positive impact of our whole school commitment to high quality teaching and learning. Most importantly, students approached the assessments with confidence, resilience, and a genuine desire to do their best. Qualities that matter just as much as the scores themselves. We extend our thanks to our dedicated staff and supportive families who help create an environment where every child can thrive, and we look forward to building on this success together.

Your Move- Walk to School Wednesday

Our first Your Move event, Walk to School Wednesday, was a fantastic success, with an impressive level of participation from families across the school community. The morning felt noticeably calmer, with reduced traffic around the school and a safer, more welcoming environment for students arriving on foot, bike or scooter. The top Kiss and Drop was significantly quieter, as you can see from the photo below.

It was wonderful to see so many students embracing active travel, chatting with friends as they made their way to school or around the oval and starting the day with energy and enthusiasm. This strong beginning sets a positive tone for our Your Move journey, and we look forward to building on this momentum!
