HMS Friday Flyover

10/9/26

HMS FridayFlyover10/9/26

From the Principal From the Principal

Hello Hawks!

This week brought the start of basketball tryouts, and it was great to see so many students come out and compete for a spot. Trying out for something takes courage, and we’re proud of all of our students who put themselves out there, worked hard, and supported one another throughout the process. We’re excited to get another season underway!

We also have a group of students heading out for our Washington, D.C. trip this weekend. This is always such a memorable experience for our students, and we’re excited for them to have the opportunity to see so much of our nation’s history come to life while making some great memories with their classmates along the way. Safe travels to all of our students and staff making the trip!

Another busy week down and plenty more ahead. Thank you to our students and staff for continuing to bring great energy to the building each day. Have a great weekend, Hawks, and keep going ALL IN!

Go All IN Today!

NEW: Home / School Connection🏠 NEW: Home / School Connection🏠

Welcome to our new Home/School Connection corner! Middle school is a time of huge growth, and we are here to partner with you every step of the way. Each week we will share a quick, practical tip to help support your student both in and out of the classroom. These tips will range from simple ways to help with homework and build strong study habits, to strategies for supporting your child's emotional well-being and confidence.

Executive Function Tip Self Advocacy: What it is: Self-Advocacy means understanding what you need and speaking up respectfully to ask for help, clarification, or support. It helps students become more independent, confident, and successful. What you may notice: At home, your child may wait for others to solve problems, avoid asking questions, or say they are fine even when they are stuck. At school, they may stay quiet when confused, feel unsure about talking to teachers, or miss chances to ask for help or clarification. Try this: Help your student practice "Ask-Explain-Act" routine. Ask "Can you help me understand this?" Explain "I'm confused about ____" or "I need help with _____." Act: Write down the answer, ask the next question, or use the support. Small steps. Steady Progress. Big Growth.

📧 Reminder: Students Should Check Their School Email

Parents, please remind your students to check their school email throughout the school day. Important messages may include notifications about early dismissals for appointments, items dropped off in the office, changes to car rider or bus rider arrangements, and other time-sensitive information.

Students are responsible for checking their email, reading these messages, and reporting to the appropriate location at the designated time. We use email rather than classroom phone calls whenever possible to minimize disruptions to instruction and allow teachers to focus on teaching. Thank you for helping us reinforce this important responsibility with your students!

🚌 Activity Bus Information

Students must sign up for the activity bus by 12:00 PM each day using the online form. Students are responsible for completing the sign-up form themselves. If needed, students may sign up for an entire week at a time.

We appreciate parents’ help in encouraging students to take responsibility for signing up on time and planning ahead!

Get to know Logan! Outside of school, Logan enjoys a wide variety of hobbies, including MMA, soccer, chess, drumming, gaming, and calisthenics. A fan of heavy metal and classic rock, Logan’s favorite band is Dream Theater. When it comes to favorite shows and movies, Logan enjoys Tomorrow’s Joe and The Thing.

If Logan could travel through time, the choice would be easy—go back in time and invest in Bitcoin early! 😂 Logan’s advice to our middle school students is simple but meaningful: Enjoy the time now because school goes by faster than you’d expect!
