Important Reminder for Parents of Dual Enrolled Students

As a reminder, due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), college staff are unable to share information about a student’s records, even with parents, without the student’s written consent.

If you would like to speak with the college regarding your student’s academic progress, enrollment, financials, or other educational matters, your student must first complete a Release of Information (FERPA) form. This form allows the college to discuss specific details with designated individuals listed on the form.

Students can request and submit the form at the link below.

We appreciate your understanding and support in helping your student navigate this important step in their academic journey.

Xello Account

Parents have received an email with a link to connect to their student's Xello account. This will allow you to track your student's progress through the career planning activities. Please use the link to stay informed and engaged with your student’s journey in Xello.

Senior Class of 2026 Communication & Community Service Opportunities

Moving forward, all communication for the Class of 2026 will be sent to your school email account and posted on the Clio High School website under the Guidance Zone tab. Please make a habit of checking both regularly to stay informed.

In addition, a document listing community service opportunities will be created and added soon to the Guidance Zone for your convenience. Be sure to review it frequently, as new opportunities will be updated throughout the year.

Michigan College Month

With the calendar rolling over to October, most colleges and universities in the state of Michigan waive their application fee. Now is the time to apply to your colleges to give yourself some options once you graduate. Feel free to stop by the counseling office if you have any questions on how to get that process started.

FAFSA Night, Thursday November 13

In preparation, please take a moment to create your FSA ID ahead of time. The FSA ID acts as your electronic signature for completing the FAFSA and is required for both you and your student.

You can create your FSA ID by visiting: studentaid.gov — Create FSA ID

Completing this step beforehand will help the evening run smoothly and allow us to focus on walking through the FAFSA together. If you need assistance with the process, feel free to reach out — we’re here to help!

Join us for a very informative meeting about completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Completing the FAFSA is a required part of your child’s senior year. If you need a waiver, they are available in the Guidance Office.

Don’t miss this important opportunity to learn how to maximize your student’s financial aid options!

FAFSA

The U.S. Department of Education announced that the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is officially open!

As always, we appreciate your efforts to encourage as many students as possible to submit the FAFSA form. Remember, we are here to support you along with way. There are a number of resources available on our Web site including the FAFSA Awareness Toolkit.

Last year, FAFSA completion across the state was over 55% and we know that we can increase that number with your help to ensure that Michiganders maximize their aid eligibility. Let’s make this happen together!

As we reach mid-October, I want to share some reflections on our discipline trends so far this school year. The data combines both major and minor incidents, giving us a fuller picture of where we can focus our efforts to support a positive school environment. One clear trend is the high number of cell phone violations, which remain the most frequent issue among students. We appreciate your help in reinforcing the expectation that phones should be put away and out of sight during class time to minimize distractions. Our policy regarding cell phones and more can be found on the CAS Handbook.

Other common concerns include defiance and disrespect, behaviors that disrupt learning and affect the classroom climate. Our staff continues to address these incidents with students to promote respect and responsibility. Academic misconduct also appears among the more frequent issues, reminding us all of the importance of integrity in our work.

We value students who exemplify the PRIDE matrix, especially those who consistently demonstrate being Positive and Respectful. These qualities help create a welcoming and productive environment for everyone. Thank you for partnering with us to maintain a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment. Together, we can help our students make the most of every day.

Dear Students, Parents, and Community Members,

We hope this message finds you well. We are excited to share the latest updates from our high school community.

Outstanding Band Performances:

We are proud to announce that our high school band has recently delivered outstanding performances at multiple venues. The Marching Mustangs showed out at Grand Blanc on September 29th, capturing 1st place in multiple areas. The band traveled to Canton High School on October 11th and will compete at Clarkston High School, on October 18th. Congratulations to our students and band director, Matthew DiCosola, for a wonderful start to our marching season!

Parent/Teacher Conferences:

Parents, please make sure to save the dates for High School Parent/Teacher Conferences for next week. The dates and times are as follows:

Tuesday, October 21st: 3:30 - 5:30 pm

Thursday, October 23rd: 12:00 - 3:00 pm and 5:00 - 7:00 pm (½ day for students)

Friday, October 24th: No School for students and staff

High School Conferences are a "Drop-In" format, where parents show up during the scheduled times and visit classroom teachers in a non-scheduled, next-in-line, format. I encourage you to try to attend conferences. The opportunity to connect with your student's teachers is valuable and creates a necessary communication link to ensure student success. I look forward to seeing you!

The High School will be hosting our annual Career Day on October 29th to give our students an opportunity to explore different career pathways and speak with the vendors. This is a wonderful experience for all students as they narrow their scope on their plans beyond high school.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our high school community. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated and enthusiastic students, parents, and staff. We appreciate you all! Join the Mustang Charge! Go Clio! #theplacetobe
