The Austin Gazette

From the Principal
Go Texan Day was amazing! Let me tell you why. We don’t know how old this Austin tradition is, but we do know it has been an annual event for several decades. We have parents of current students who danced for their parents many years ago!
Our students have been practicing for this event for weeks. Do boys and girls like to dance together? At first, absolutely not! Our students learn that they can do hard and uncomfortable things. They learn that, with time and practice, hard things become easier and uncomfortable things become comfortable. When they perform for parents and teachers, they have weeks of hard work to be proud of.
As a parent, I learned it is very difficult to attend all the school events, especially the ones during the workday. That said, we had an amazing turnout on Friday, and I thank all of the parents for cheering on our students.
Now…on to the next event! Below you will see the Color Run order forms. Please note that MONDAY is the last day to order shirts and color packs!
The spring semester is go, go, go! Please remember to practice those math facts every night. Memorizing them is the only way to get super fast for our March Madness Math Fact Challenge!

March Madness is coming! 🏀
We’re launching a fun math competition, and your child can be a winner!
Students will compete using a bracket system (like basketball), and speed matters, so practicing facts at home will help a lot.
What to practice:
1st: Addition to 20
2nd: Addition & subtraction to 20
3rd & 4th: Multiplication facts up to 10×10
We’ll be using flashcards during the competition, so that’s a great way to practice at home.
Tip: The best practice is short and daily. Five minutes a day beats one long session!
Let’s get ready for some math madness!
