Happy Sunday!

Happy Sunday! It's been another great week in the Travis Choir Room with lots of progress made in each ensemble! Each week, I'll be sending out our weekly newsletter, the Tiger Choir Chronicles, sometime between Sunday and Monday. It will also be posted on the choir website under "Weekly Updates." Please be sure to read the full news update each week for reminders, upcoming events, and news. There is a lot of information in this week's newsletter so please be sure to read through everything that applies to your student.

Fall Concert Reminders

Our Fall Concert is FAST approaching on October 6 at 7 pm! Please ensure this date is on everyone's calendar! Student call time is 6:15 pm, and doors for the audience will open at 6:45 pm. The concert is FREE and open to everyone, so please feel free to invite family and friends to this kick-off concert for the year!

Student uniform for the concert is formal uniforms (dresses and tuxedos). This past week we began issuing dresses to students as they return from the seamstress. This week, we will continue sending uniforms home for students who are up to date on choir fee payments. Please note, an additional $50 needs to be paid on the choir fee in order to issue a uniform to a student.

For all students wearing a tuxedo, please note that students are responsible for providing their own dress black shoes, black socks that cover the ankle, and a plain white button-down dress shirt. Dress shirts should be solid white, and the collar should be a classic design with no buttons. Please see the guide below for the correct collar style and feel free to email me with any questions!

Choir Fees Due October 1

As a gentle reminder, choir fees are due on October 1st. Students need to have either paid the full choir fee or paid at least $80 for "New to Choir" students, or $50 for returning choir students as a payment on the choir fee.

As always, if your family requires assistance, our Booster Club is here to support our students and is happy to help. Please send Mr. Miner an email if this applies to your family. Thank you!

Outrun Hunger 5K National Anthem Performance

On Saturday, October 3rd, we will be joining the Neill Elementary Choir and Bowie MS Choir to perform the National Anthem to kick off the Harvest Green Outrun Hunger 5K! This is an optional event for all students to participate in, and we will be finished at 8 am. Student call time is 7:30 am, uniform is gray choir polo and shorts or jeans.

All-State Camp Reimbursements

If your child received a scholarship from our Booster Club to attend an All-State camp this past summer, please submit the following to Mr. Miner to begin processing your reimbursement:

  • Receipt of registration
  • Proof of attendance (this could be a concert program, picture from the camp, t-shirt, etc.)

As a reminder, the scholarships cover the cost of a camp UP TO $100. Students who do not submit for reimbursement by the end of the fall semester forfeit their scholarship.

Join the Booster Club! 🎵

The Travis Choir Booster Club supports high schooler's love for singing by providing opportunities for their parents and family members to further the choir's success.

The four members of the executive team take care of the governance so that Choir Booster Members can focus on fundraising, volunteer coordination, and events that enable the choir to be exciting and fun for the kids.

No special experience is required. Whether you're organized, creative, handy, good with numbers, enjoy planning events, love taking photos, have business connections, or simply want to help when needed, we'd love to learn more about you.

Please take a moment to complete our Volunteer Interest Form and tell us about your skills, interests, and availability. Every parent has something valuable to contribute, and every contribution helps our choir thrive!

Chorale Updates

Chorale is off to a great start! In addition to everything above, we discussed varsity expectations for these students. They have a much more demanding schedule compared to other classes with several that I'd like to highlight for Varsity Chorale parents:

  • Sectionals are offered for All-State preparation. Only advancing students need to worry about attending. As a reminder, sectionals are optional, but are the most efficient and best way to learn the music and prepare for each round.
  • Treble Singers: Mark Thursday, October 8 on your calendar as a day not to miss school! We will be traveling up to Texas A & M University for their annual Treble Choir Day! Itinerary includes:
    • 7:15 am: Report to Choir Room
    • 7:30 am: Depart for Texas A & M
    • 9:30 am: Registration Opens
    • 10:00 am: Rehearsals, Games, Vocal Technique Classes
    • 2:00 pm: Depart
    • approx 4 pm: Return to THS
I'm so excited for this awesome day of learning and meeting other students from around the Houston area! Lunch will be provided in the university food hall. Should your child require anything specific, please be sure they have it with them for the day.

AAC Level-Down Forms

If your child is currently in the Choir AAC course and would like to level down, applications are now available from the counselor's office. Please have your child stop by to retrieve the packet and gather the requested signatures ASAP so that the counseling department can begin processing them. Weekly AAC recordings will soon begin on All State Music so we want to ensure the course code gets switched as soon as possible.

Presto Assistant

Thank you so everyone so far who has logged in to Presto to sign forms and pay fees. As a reminder, all fees and most forms this year will be done via the Presto Assistant website. To access the website, please CLICK HERE. A few points below:

  • If you are NEW to the THS Choir Program: You should have received several emails from Presto Assistant inviting you to finishing setting up your profile. I have already created a profile for every student and the first parent listed in Skyward. The email listed in Skyward is the email that should have received the Presto email. Please follow the directions to complete your profile set up in order to pay fees and sign required forms.
  • If you are a returning parent who does not remember your Presto login, please follow the directions on the website to reset your password to access your account.
  • If you have multiple students and both students do not appear in your parent account, please let me know so that I can ensure they are linked correctly.
  • Presto Assistant does not allow student profiles to pay choir fees or sign forms so please ensure you are able to access your account.

I appreciate those of you who have reached out with your issues as I am working closely with the Presto team to solve individual issues and inform them on how to better streamline the platform for parents.
