Dear Coolidge Families:

As the cold and flu season seems to have hit our cougars early, we want to remind families of the importance of keeping children home when they are not feeling well. Staying home helps your child recover more quickly and prevents the spread of illness to classmates and staff.

Your child may return when:

  • They have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication

  • They have not vomited or had diarrhea for 24 hours

Allowing time for full recovery helps your child return to learning feeling strong and ready, while keeping our school community healthy!

Thank you for helping us create a safe and healthy environment for all students.

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Pierson

Congratulations Mrs. McCluskey!🎉 Congratulations Mrs. McCluskey!🎉

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news—Mrs. McCluskey was nominated by students of Big Smile Orthodontics as a Favorite Teacher! This recognition is a wonderful tribute to her dedication, warmth, and the positive impact she has on her students.

To celebrate this honor, Big Smile Orthodontics generously donated a pizza lunch for the classroom and a surprise presentation for Mrs. McCluskey on Wednesday November 12th.

Winter Volunteer Opportunity Winter Volunteer Opportunity

Hi Coolidge families!

With winter coming, our little ones will need extra help getting in and out of all their snow gear during lunch and recess. We’re looking for a few extra hands during these times to keep things running smoothly (and keep those mittens from mysteriously disappearing!).

If you’re available to volunteer from 11:30–12:10 or 11:30–12:30, even occasionally, we’d love to have you!

We welcome any and all volunteers — you do not need to be a kindergarten parent to help out! Please fill out the form below and make sure to have a completed iChat form. These need to be completed by Friday, November 21st. This opportunity begins December 1, 2025.

Thanks so much for supporting our kiddos this season.

Parking Lot Flow Parking Lot Flow

To help keep everyone safe during arrival and dismissal, please remember to follow our school’s parking lot traffic flow (See below). A few extra moments make a big difference in keeping students, families, and staff safe!

Important reminders:

  • Continue to circle until a parking spot is found. No sitting with hazards on. Traffic must continue to flow.
  • Use designated crosswalks.
  • Make sure to exit your parking space with the flow. (It is only one way)
  • Be patient and courteous — everyone’s goal is to get students to and from school safely.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our school parking lot safe, organized, and efficient.

Phone and Watch Reminder Phone and Watch Reminder

Livonia Public Schools has a policy that all phones and smart watches have to be off and in your child's backpack during the school day. This policy helps us here at Coolidge with keeping students engaged in their learning. Some smart watches can be set to school mode where they can not be a distraction and are turned off during the school day. If you want your child to wear their watch it must be in school mode and please let your teacher know that you are requesting they wear it. Otherwise we will ask all students to place phones and smart watches in their backpacks during the school day.

Student Item Drop Off Student Item Drop Off

If your child has forgotten something, no worries — we have a convenient drop-off shelf located in the vestibule for your use.

Please follow these simple steps:

  1. Place the forgotten item on the shelf.

  2. Use a sticky note to clearly write your child's name and teacher's name, then attach it to the item.

  3. A list of teacher emails is posted near the shelf. Please send a quick email to your child's teacher to let them know — they will check their messages and ensure your child receives the item. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s day!

A reminder to families: if your child is only purchasing milk (and not a full school meal), the cost is $0.60 per carton.

Please make sure your child’s lunch account has enough funds to cover this purchase. Thank you for your attention to this and for helping our lunch program run smoothly!

Coolidge Drop off and Pick up Procedures Coolidge Drop off and Pick up Procedures

The Loop (Highly Recommended) – The loop can be used for drop off or pick up. Students should remain in their cars until the car has come to a complete stop in the painted half circle area. Please do not let your child out of the car, or wave your child to your car, while you are in any other part of the loop area or driveway. Do not leave the loop area until the vehicle in front of you has left. Please remain alert and ready to move forward with traffic.

The Parking lot - The parking lot can be used for drop off or pick up. Your car should be parked in a parking spot and you will need to walk your child to and from the school doors utilizing only the crosswalk. OUr staff is there to assist you and your child. Your child should NEVER be in the parking lot without you at their side. The ONLY place that parking or sitting is permitted, is in a designated parking space. Parking anywhere else could prevent our buses from coming or going. (Using the loop is easier.)

The Crosswalk - The crosswalk is for our student to walk across the parking lot safely. Cars have been parking blocking the crosswalk. Please use our parking spots. Do not block the crosswalk!

Y5/Kindergarten students will be making cards to go with the blankets, 1st/2nd grade will be tying the blankets and 3rd/4th will be cutting the strips. We are in need of volunteers to help supervise and assist students with these projects during their recess times. If you are interested in helping, please sign up using the link below.
