Introducing Our Core Values: STRIPES

At our school, STRIPES represents the qualities we strive to live by every day: Supportive, Trustworthy, Responsible, Innovative, Persistent, Empathy, and Service. These values guide how we learn, work, and treat one another, helping us build a strong, caring, and respectful community where every student can thrive.

School Day Schedule Adjustment

PGCPS has added an additional 5 minutes to each school's day. Five of our periods are extended by 1 minute. Student arrival still begins as early as 7:35. Students who are not in class by 8am are marked tardy. Car-rider dismissal is now at 2:55 and Bus riders/Walkers will be dismissed at 3:00.

Casual days for May and June will be based on tardies, cell phone violations, and uniform infractions.

Attention 8th Grade Families

Please save the dates!

Attendance and Early Dismissal

All students are expected to attend school regularly in accordance with state laws and regulations. The schools, families, and communities must work together to foster exemplary attendance for all students (Board Policy 5113). Morning arrival begins as early as 7:35 a.m. for students eating breakfast and 7:45 a.m. for all other students. Breakfast is served from 7:35–7:55 a.m., and students are expected to be in class by 8:00 a.m. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. must be dropped off at the front of the building to sign in and receive a tardy pass.

Examples of Lawful Absences include: death in the immediate family, illness, suspension, observance of religious holidays, court summons, etc.

Please be sure to provide an Electronic note to the school when your child is absent. using this link https://shorturl.at/kmoL4 . This link is also located on our school website under CMIT Families tab/ Parents.

This form should be completed by parents when their child is arriving late/ early dismissal or absent from school. Students have 3 (THREE) school days once they return, to submit a note explaining their absence. (PLEASE NOTE: Family Trips/Vacations are NOT excused absences, you must submit a different form and get pre-approval from Principal Brauer) * Not all absence notes are excused. Families are encouraged to refer to Administrative Procedure 5113 for more information.

Please attach doctor's notes or any other supporting documentation that is related to the absence. Once an excused absence note is submitted , your child will be permitted to make up missing work. It would be helpful to have your child ask their teacher(s) and or email your child's teachers to see what missing work needs to be completed.

Early Dismissal ends at 2:30pm.

For any questions or concerns, please contact the front office @ 301-350-6051.

Synergy is PGCPS' new Student Information System. It is critically important that families activate their ParentVUE account. This will allow parents to view student schedules, attendance, and grades.

MCAP Testing Begins This Week!

It's that time of year again, state testing! Below are the dates for MCAP Math, ELA, and Social Studies Testing. Students must arrive ON TIME (7:55 am) for test dates for their grade level. Testing will be conducted all day for 6th and 7th grade (8th grade before lunch). Due to the tests being adaptive, students will automatically be assigned to make-up testing if they are tardy or absent on the first day of testing for each content (math and ELA). Make-up testing is not guaranteed due to space, time, and test administrator availability. Please see attached parent notifications for more information regarding MCAP Math and ELA Testing. More information regarding MCAP Social Studies (US History - 8th grade only) will be shared closer to the testing date. There will be no Tiger Time beginning April 15 through May 20. Tiger Time will resume on May 27. If you have any questions, please let me know.
