Honor Differences & Care for Others”

CODING IN THE S.T.E.A.M. LAB CODING IN THE S.T.E.A.M. LAB

We are thrilled to share that students in the STEAM lab have been diving into the exciting world of coding! Currently, they are learning how to move shapes through an electronic obstacle course, which is both fun and challenging. This hands-on activity allows students to work through complex problems while tapping into their creativity and problem-solving skills.

Through coding, they are gaining valuable skills in logic, sequence, and critical thinking—skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom. It’s been incredible to see the students’ enthusiasm and determination as they work through each obstacle, building confidence with every step.

A special thank you to Mrs. Barta for her dedication and for providing our students with this amazing opportunity to explore coding. Her efforts are truly shaping our young learners' future success.

We are excited to introduce Michael Iranfar as Gold Rush's new School Resource Officer (SRO)! As part of our commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment, Officer Iranfar joins us with extensive experience and a dedication to our school community.

Officer Iranfar has been with the Parker Police Department since 2022 and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role. Mrs. Fitch, our school counselor, had the opportunity to serve on the interview committee and felt that Officer Iranfar would be a strong fit for our school. His approach to building positive relationships with students and staff aligns perfectly with our values at Gold Rush.

This week, Officer Iranfar has been touring the school, meeting students, and getting to know the staff. His presence in our school is not only about safety but also about fostering a positive relationship with law enforcement in a supportive, educational environment.

We are thrilled to welcome Officer Iranfar to the Gold Rush family and look forward to the positive impact he will make. Please join us in giving him a warm welcome!

LOCKDOWN PRACTICE MONDAY LOCKDOWN PRACTICE MONDAY

Gold Rush students and staff practice lockdown drills twice a year. The school would go into a lockdown if there was a threat within the school. This differs from a hold (formerly a lockout), which occurs if there is a threat outside of the building, such as a wild animal. During a lockdown students remain seated and silent in their locked classroom. In a hold, students remain within the building, but they are able to proceed with usual routines.

On Monday students and staff will participate in the lockdown drill with District Security and the Parker Police. We inform students that if they were not in their classroom when a lockdown was announced they would run to the closest room. If they were in the bathroom students are told to remain in a locked stall with their feet up. If they are outside they are directed to run away from the school and find a safe spot until a safe person finds them.

When we signal the drill we use a system that immediately informs both the Parker Police Department and the District. It also announces that we are in a lockdown outside the building. If you are to hear the announcement on Monday, please know that this is a scheduled practice.
