Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
May 1, 2026
Lutherville Families,
A few big weeks at The Lab! We started state testing with our 4th graders working very hard on the ELA assessment, our 5th graders completed their Dancing through the Decades experience this morning, we have wonderful performances from our Drama Club, our school earned another honor, and our Loyola Interns wrapped up their time with us at LL.
And next week's got even more happening! May madness!
Next week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. Our wonderful PTA has planned a week of recognition and please know that words of appreciation directly from families are deeply meaningful!
Next week we will also continue MCAP testing for our intermediate students. A reminder on exact testing dates for each grade level is below. Please partner with us to make this a success by ensuring your child has a great night's sleep the night before and are not absent on testing days whenever possible:
3rd: 5/11, 5/12, 5/13, 5/15, 5/18, 5/20
4th: 5/14, 5/15
5th: 5/4, 5/5, 5/6, 5/7, 5/11, 5/12
As we continue to navigate such a busy season, please continue to reference our Spring Calendar of Events, where we try to capture most of the big events at Lutherville Lab over the next two months. This is a live document and as times are finalized, they'll be added.
Have a great weekend, Leopard families!
In partnership,
-Mr. McComb

Silver Sustainable Maryland Green School!
Our Learning Garden got a boost from Towson University and community volunteers a few weeks back. Our Sensory Garden portion, in honor of Bailee and Serenity, is coming along!
Woot woot! We are celebrating again at Lutherville Lab!
Last week, the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) announced this year's Maryland Green schools. Lutherville Lab successfully submitted to re-certify and earned Sustainable Silver School designation, the program's highest honor. Western Technical HS joins Lutherville as the only schools in BCPS with that honor.
Schools receive certification as Maryland Green Schools after demonstrating and documenting a continuous effort to integrate sustainable environmental management practices, environmental education curriculum, professional development opportunities, and community engagement into their daily operations. The award signifies their commitment to developing stewards of the earth and reducing the school’s impact on the environment. Recertification takes place every four years. A special congratulations to Ms. Conley and Mr. Paul, who spear-headed our certification process as Green School Coordinators this year.
Lutherville Lab first certified as a Green School in 2006. In 2024, Lutherville was selected by the U.S. Department of Education as a Green Ribbon School for national excellence in environmental education, sustainability practices, and wellness. To learn more about a few of our Green School practices, see this video from BCPS-TV filmed earlier this year.
