The Wednesday Weekly
May 7, 2025
Message from Ms. Joanna
Dear PS 107 Families,
This week, we’re celebrating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, and I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to our incredible PS 107 team. Our teachers, educational assistants, office staff, custodians, school aides, counseling team, specialists, and food services team show up every single day with heart, skill, and dedication. They nurture our students, challenge them, guide them, and care for them — and they do it all with extraordinary professionalism and love.
A huge thank you to our Teacher and Staff Appreciation parent leads — Elaine Mui, Angela Im-Skobac,and Alma Lacour — for organizing such a thoughtful and celebratory week on behalf of our families. The notes, treats, and thoughtful gestures have meant so much to all of us.
We also want to give a special shout-out to Kate Segal and Danny Fried for designing an extra special PS 107 Staff T-Shirt, proudly featuring our new eagle mascot front and center. We are rocking them with pride — thank you for helping us show off our school spirit in style!
REMINDER: CEC ELECTIONS UNDERWAY
A friendly reminder that CEC (Community Education Council) elections are happening now and will remain open through May 13th. You can vote via your NYC Schools Account (NYCSA). CECs help shape school policy and ensure that parent voices are heard in meaningful ways across the city.
We’re especially excited that one of our own — third-grade parent and PS 107 alum Angelica Cesario — is running for a seat on the District 15 CEC. To learn more and cast your vote, please visit CEC Elections Information.
SAFETY DRILL: THURSDAY, MAY 15TH
Our second evacuation (fire) drill of the spring semester will take place on Thursday, May 15th at 1:45 pm. These drills are an important part of keeping our community safe and ensuring that our students and staff are prepared in case of emergency.
After this drill, we will conduct two more evacuation drills and one soft lockdown drill before the school year ends. As always, we approach these with care and clarity so students know what to expect and why we practice.
Thank you for being such a supportive and engaged community. Whether it’s cheering on our staff, voting in CEC elections, or reinforcing safety routines — your partnership makes all the difference.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
Warmly,
Ms. Joanna

REMINDERS & HELPFUL TIPS
NYC SCHOOLS ACCOUNT - NYCSA
This is a NYC DOE parent account for students grades K - 12 that enables parents/guardians to view all of their children’s records - grades, fitnessgrams, attendance, your child’s DOE email, etc. At least one parent/guardian will need to have access to this account.
We strongly encourage all parents/guardians to have their own account. Any parent with children in grades k-5 who does not have their own NYSCA , please contact nbenlarbi2@schools.nyc.gov for instructions and your unique account creation code.
MAKING SCHOOL DAY DISMISSAL PICK-UP CHANGES
If there is a change to your child’s dismissal, please be sure to note the change on the Daily Dismissal form in Operoo. If it is a same day change, please email your child’s teacher and cc Nadia at nbenlarbi2@schools.nyc.gov in addition to making any changes on the Daily Dismissal form. You can also contact the main office at 718-499-2054.
MAKING AFTERSCHOOL DISMISSAL CHANGES
If you need to add a new pick up person for your child in afterschool, please make sure to update this on 6Crickets (Click Here). Afterschool and PS 107 partner in many ways, but not with our information applications. They can't access Operoo and we can't access 6Crickets.
Thank you for your assistance in ensuring your child's safety 😊
IDENTIFICATION
When entering the school building you must present your ID to the safety agent when signing in.
One helpful tip is to take a picture of your id. Often, we will have our phone with us even if we don’t have our id. This way, you always have it handy :)
