Parent Protech is a free service offered in the state of Georgia that allows parents to learn more about popular technology uses and the effects on children. This flyer about Roblox is from the Madison County School District Board Office. Feel free to contact Tara Thomas at tthomas@madison.k12.ga.us.

We will celebrate the love of reading by having a Book Character Day on Friday, October 31. Students are encouraged to dress as a favorite book character. This is not a Halloween costume day. You are welcome to do an online search for fun ideas. This is completely optional, but we hope many students join us for the fun! We will have a Book Character Parade after the Cougar Pride Assembly that morning. Parents are welcome to attend!

If your child was absent on picture day, or if they need to have their picture retaken, we will have Picture Retakes on Wednesday, November 12.

Kindergarten parents are invited to celebrate Thanksgiving with kindergarten students on Friday, November 21 at 1:45pm. More information will come!

Athens' very own professional hockey team, the Athens Rock Lobsters, are passionate about encouraging kids to read. They are offering a free ticket to one of their hockey games for every student who reads 1,000 minutes between now and December 12. The ticket will be dispersed after Christmas, and the game will be for a home game sometime in February or March.

Kindergarten and First Grade: You have received paper reading logs. Fill these out each time you read, and turn it in if you need a new one. We will keep all of the logs that are turned in and will submit your name to the Rock Lobsters once you reach 1,000 minutes.

Second through Fifth Grades: Students who have 35 AR points by December 12 will have their name submitted to the Rock Lobsters for a free ticket.

We hope you have a fantastic time reading and earning your free ticket to a hockey game!

As the weather cools and more students wear jackets to school, please remember to put your child's name in everything they bring to school. Hoodies, jackets, coats, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc. often get misplaced in the building. The only way we can get it to your child is if their name is on it. Otherwise we send it to the lost and found, which as you can see is overflowing and overwhelming to search through. Thanks for your help in this!
