Dear Students, Staff, and Families,
On behalf of the Metropolitan School District of Steuben County Schools, I would like to welcome each of you to the 2026–2027 school year. The beginning of a new school year is always a time of renewed focus, fresh opportunities, and a shared commitment to the success of every student we serve. We are proud to partner with our families and community as we continue to provide a high quality educational experience for all students.
Our district remains committed to fostering an environment where students are supported and encouraged to be at their best everyday. Through the dedication of our teachers, administrators, and support staff, MSD of Steuben County continues to offer strong instructional programming, meaningful student experiences, and a safe and welcoming learning environment across all of our schools.
As we begin this year, we would like to highlight several areas of continued focus and progress:
- Academic Excellence: Our schools remain focused on strengthening student achievement in literacy and mathematics while continuing to expand opportunities for advanced coursework, career readiness, and college credit programs.
- Student Opportunities: Students across the district have access to a wide range of extracurricular activities, including athletics, fine arts, and academic programs that support well-rounded development.
- Workforce and Career Pathways: Through partnerships with local organizations and post-secondary institutions, we continue to expand opportunities in career and technical education, preparing students for success beyond high school.
- Safe and Supportive Schools: Ensuring student safety and well-being remains a top priority. We continue to implement practices and supports that promote positive school climates and student engagement.
- Strategic Planning: Building on community feedback, the district is actively working toward a comprehensive strategic plan that will guide our priorities and decision-making in the years ahead.
We are especially proud of the dedication and professionalism of our staff. Their daily efforts make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and are the foundation of the success we experience as a district. We also recognize the important role our families play in supporting student achievement, and we value your continued partnership.
As we move forward into the new school year, we encourage open communication and active involvement. Together, we can ensure that every student in MSD of Steuben County Schools is provided the opportunities and support necessary to succeed.
Thank you for your continued trust and support of our schools. We look forward to a productive and successful year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Matt Widenhoefer
Superintendent
