Facility Feedback
Facilities Planning: Thank You for Showing Up
Over the past few weeks, our community came out to see our elementary school for themselves and to learn about how we are planning for the future of our facilities.
We held open houses on September 1 and September 17. More than 30 community members joined us for the first, and more than 70 joined us for the second. At both, people walked the building and saw the conditions our students and staff live with every day. We shared how the Facilities Planning Task Force has done its work over the past year, what it has studied, where we are in the process, and why community feedback matters right now. There was time for questions, and we provided ways for people to complete the survey. This discussion and opportunity is exactly what this process needs. Thank you to everyone who gave us an evening.
No decisions have been made. Nothing has been selected, approved, or set in motion. We are in the part of the process where we listen, and what we hear from you will shape what comes next.
For those who could not attend, the presentation shared on September 17 is now posted on the Facilities Planning Task Force page of our district website, along with more project details, frequently asked questions, and a tax rate calculator. coupeville.k12.wa.us
You still have the opportunity to give us your feedback.
The community survey is open through September 20. It asks for your priorities, your thoughts on the site options being studied for a replacement elementary school, and anything else you want the Task Force to hear. It takes only a few minutes.
On October 1, the Facilities Planning Task Force reconvenes to review every piece of community feedback we have gathered. That feedback is what the Task Force will carry into its work as it develops a recommendation for the School Board. These are choices that will affect our students, our staff, and our community for decades. We need to hear from everyone, whether you have a student in our schools or not.
Please take the survey. Please share it with your neighbors. Your voice belongs in this process.
With gratitude,
Shannon Leatherwood
Superintendent

Welcome Back From Food Services
Welcome Back!
Welcome back to the cafeteria Coupeville students! The first weeks of school are officially in the books, and we’re finding our rhythm again. In just the first week we served 1,247 breakfasts and 4,535 lunches across our schools. That’s a lot of meals in just a few days!
These first weeks always come with a little remembering — students are getting back into the routines of the cafeteria, and our team is settling in, working out the kinks, and enjoying having everyone back in the buildings. It’s good to see familiar faces again, meet new ones, and get back to serving our Coupeville students every day. We’re glad you’re back!
Meal Price Increase
This year, we increased meal prices at Coupeville Middle School and High School to meet federal program pricing requirements. Breakfast is now $2.30 and lunch is $4.00 for students who do not qualify for free or reduced-price meals. At Coupeville Elementary School, breakfast and lunch remain free for all students under the state's 'Meals for Washington Students' program.
We encourage all middle and high school families to review eligibility criteria and apply for free breakfast and lunch for their students. Families can apply online through Qmlativ, complete a paper application available at any school office, or contact the Food Services Department for assistance. Families can apply at any time during the school year if their circumstances change. If you have questions about eligibility or need help with an application, please reach out to us — we are happy to help!

Transportation News (Repeat)
Dear Coupeville Families,
I want to give you a heads-up about our change to an updated version of the app you use to register for transportation and track your student’s school bus. This summer, our software company listened to suggestions and requests made by users and worked hard to put together a new app called EZ Arrival.
What this means for you:
It combines many of the different features of our previous apps, Bus Quest and EZ A2B, into one streamlined tool.
EZ Arrival still continues to provide real-time bus tracking as before and now provides enhanced proactive parent notifications, added a broad foreign language support, and many other upgraded features.
Best of all, your existing account and settings will work automatically in EZ Arrival; no new registration or additional setup required!
The transition is simple — same login, same password, no re-registration.
Important Notice to Families:
All students who wish to ride a school bus to or from school are required to register for services. Due to the large number of changes to the routes this year, no previous year riders have been rolled over for the coming year. You can register via the EZ Arrival app, visit the Transportation Department page of the District website, or contact the Transportation Department Dispatcher directly.
We have limited space on buses so students needing services must have a regular riding schedule of at least 1-2 times every 2 weeks.
You can find additional information regarding all transportation related services on the newly updated Transportation Department page of the district website.
To download EZ Arrival:
Write down your current login information, if you have one, and then uninstall previous versions of Bus Quest or EZ A2B.
Next search for and download “EZArrival” in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
Log in with your current EZ A2B username and password — same login, no new account needed.
If you need to create a new account simply follow the few quick steps once you click on the “Create an Account” in the app.
