C&I Connections Newsletter
November 22, 2024

Hello Tiger Nation!
In this week’s newsletter, you’ll find the weekly overview for when we return, Lexia English translated materials to share with families, and resources for students who are completing extra Zearn lessons or have finished all grade-level content.
We hope these supports help you finish the week strong and set you up for a smooth, refreshing return after break!
C&I Curriculum Weekly Overview
LEXIA ENGLISH
Did you know? Lexia English has translated materials to share with families that help to reinforce and support connections between using Lexia English Language Development™ in the classroom and at home. There are visual guides, videos, and Speak @ Home speaking and listening activities.
To access these resources in MyLexia, select: Resources → Resource Hub (under Lexia English) → School to Home
MATH - Zearn Pacing, Bonuses, and Moving Ahead
Do you have students completing more than three Zearn lessons per week? If so, consider having them complete bonuses before moving ahead. Bonuses are one or two additional questions that extend and enrich the lesson. Students can return to any previously completed mission (where they’ve earned a badge) and complete the bonus to earn a ⭐ on that badge. Here are student-friendly directions on how to get to the bonuses.
Teachers can track how many bonuses a student has completed by clicking on the student’s name in the Pace Report and viewing their Pace and Progress details.
What about students who have completed all of their grade-level Zearn content? It’s important to note that students will be expected to work through their grade-level Zearn lessons again the following year, as both the district and Zearn recommend using the platform to reinforce current grade-level instruction.
For students moving at a rapid pace, consider these options:
Encourage them to complete all bonuses within a mission before advancing
Provide enrichment activities or Standards Practice after finishing a mission, rather than moving on to the next mission or grade level
These approaches help ensure students continue to deepen their understanding while staying aligned to grade-level learning.
Please reach out to the C&I team if you have any questions or need support.
