💃 8th Grade Dance 🕺 💃 8th Grade Dance 🕺

Just a reminder that the 8th Grade Dance is Friday, May 9th from 7:00-9:00 pm. Only eighth grade students from Jefferson Middle School, St. John’s Lutheran School, St. John’s Catholic School, and St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Helenville may attend the dance. Our local parochial schools are required to provide JMS a list of all attendees and their parent contact information prior to the day of the dance.

This dance serves several purposes. First, it is a culmination dance celebrating the end of middle school. Secondly, it is an opportunity to meet the students they may be going to Jefferson High School with from the parochial schools here in our district. Additionally, it is a semi-formal occasion making it something a little more special than the typical day time reward activities at school. We have also learned that students tend to behave much more mature when they are dressed up somewhat for this dance. If you have questions, please feel free to call Mrs. Sue Baker at (920) 675-1365 or email at bakers@sdoj.org

The tickets will be $7.00 and will be available the week of the dance before school and at the door Friday night. Please bring exact cash or a check written to SDOJ. The Eighth Graders look forward to this event, so we want to be sure the dance is fun and affordable for everyone. As you and your son/daughter make plans for the dance, please keep the following in mind:

Transportation

A student must remain at the dance until 8:45pm, unless leaving with his/her parent

Parents please pick up your child promptly at 9pm.

Concessions

Soda/bottled water will be available for purchase $1

Cake will be provided.

End of the Year Slideshow End of the Year Slideshow

We have a tradition of incorporating 8th grade baby/toddler pictures in our end-of-the-year slideshow. This slideshow will be presented to our students at the Awards Assembly and posted on our Facebook page. Due to school board policy, the pictures will only be labeled with the student's first name and first letter of the last name.

If you are interested, please email ONE picture to Mr. Utrie (utriee@sdoj.org) no later than Monday, May 19th. Please understand that due to production times, no late photos will be included in the slideshow. In addition, please include your son/daughter's first and last name in the email.

8th Grade Promotion is set for Thursday, June 5th at 1:00 PM in the JHS Auditorium. This is a little different than previous years in which promotion has happened in the morning of the last day of the school year. We made the switch this year so that the promotion ceremony can return to the auditorium.

To assist with parking on that day, we ask that those who are able park in the parking lot on the north side of Jefferson Middle School (between the building and the tennis courts), so as to not overcrowd the JHS parking lots.

Redefining Ready Information Redefining Ready Information

What is Redefining Ready?

Wisconsin Redefining Ready (WiRR) School Districts tell their story in a more complete manner than via a State Report Card or other required vehicles. The WiRR dashboard tells a story about a School District’s effort to prepare graduates to be College and Career Ready. Using the AASA’s research-based College and Career Indicators, the WiRR Scorecard is produced annually with School Districts using the various indicators to drive school improvement, align efforts to Academic and Career Planning, and to celebrate success.

Jefferson Middle School's readiness indicators include metrics from assessment data in math and ELA, grade point averages, enrollments in classes, clubs, activities, attendance and office disciplinary referrals, and other important indicators of readiness. These indicators more accurately reflect the educational landscape of the 21st Century.

At SDoJ we strive to ensure all students graduate future-ready based on their individual post-secondary path. By utilizing Redefining Ready targets, we measure our overall future-ready teaching and learning system to develop strategic plans of improvement and create additional opportunities for students.

We are pleased to share your student's readiness indicators at the end of the school year this year. Please expect to receive this information with your student's 4th quarter report card.
