WolmanElementary Newsletter August 20, 2026

News from Ms. Ricks, Principal News from Ms. Ricks, Principal

Dear Wolman Families,

What a wonderful week of learning at Wolman! Our Explorers continue to settle into the school year, and our routines and procedures are getting better and better each day. It has been exciting to see our students engaged in learning throughout the building—from meaningful classroom activities to lots of hands-on exploration and discovery in our science lab!

We are also incredibly proud to share some exciting news! The Texas Education Agency recently released its 2025–2026 Accountability Ratings, and Wolman Elementary earned an “A” rating AND all six eligible distinctions! This is an outstanding accomplishment and a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. We are so proud of our Explorers and incredibly grateful for the continued support and partnership of our families and community. It truly takes all of us working together to help our students learn, grow, and succeed!

We appreciate your continued patience at arrival and dismissal! Today at dismissal, we experienced technical difficulty with the online system we use to record family numbers and put our students in number order; again, your patience is most appreciated. For the most part, arrival and dismissal continue to improve each day as everyone becomes more familiar with our procedures. Please take a few moments to review our Arrival and Dismissal “Travel Guide” below to ensure you have a clear understanding of our campus procedures. Following these procedures helps us keep arrival and dismissal as safe, smooth, and efficient as possible for everyone.

On Monday, we will be kicking off our annual Wolman Read-a-Thon! This is a fun opportunity to encourage a love of reading among our Explorers while building excitement around books and literacy. Please see the flyer below for additional information, and we encourage all of our Explorers to participate!

As we continue our journey together, please review the following sections of this newsletter for additional campus, district, and PTA news and information. Thank you for your continued support and for partnering with us toward our common goal—student learning and success! Have a wonderful rest of your week!

SIGN UP COMING SOON!!!

Lunch is a fun, social time of day for our Explorers! After the first couple of weeks of school, once students have had a chance to practice routines/procedures and get to know one another, we will begin welcoming lunch visitors. As a reminder only parents/guardians, non-school aged children and immediate family listed on the lunch visitor permission form are able to visit for lunch. Due to limited space, visitors are limited to 2 visitors per student (non school age children are counted as visitors). Each parent must sign up for their own seat and a separate seat for any non school age siblings.

Lunch Visits will begin on Tuesday, September 2. Here are some reminders for when lunch visits begin...PLEASE REMEMBER when signing up to include your child's name and teacher in the comments. All visitors must show a physical, hard copy government issued ID (driver's license or passport) when you arrive for lunch. We ask that each student be limited to having a lunch visit one day per week to allow all Explorers the opportunity to have a lunch visit. If you are not able to come to lunch after you signed up, please remove your name from the list. Also, please be aware that a few minutes prior to your child's lunch time ending, the monitors will direct your child to join his/her class; this helps with making our cafeteria exit procedures run more smoothly. The following steps will guide you in signing up for lunch times to visit your child and with providing lunch visitor permission. Please call 281 234 1700 with any questions. Thank you!

Step 1:

Please sign up for date/time of lunch visit here: Link

If needed...

Step 2:

For immediate family visitors (limited to grandparents, non-school aged siblings, and stepparents) who are NOT the parents/guardians the online Lunch Visitor form must be filled out by the parent/guardian BEFORE the lunch visit. Link
