Lion Family Newsletter
SUMMER 2026
Lion Families:
As we wrap up another incredible school year, we want to take a moment to thank you—our students, families, and community—for making this year one of growth, resilience, and achievement. It has been an honor to partner with you to support every Lion’s academic, social, and emotional development.
Summer is a time to rest, recharge, and reconnect. We encourage our students to enjoy this well-deserved break while also staying curious and engaged—through reading at least 30 minutes each day, exploring new interests, and spending time with family and friends. Small, consistent habits can make a big difference in keeping skills sharp and minds active.
As you look ahead to the upcoming school year, know that we are already preparing to welcome our Lions back with energy, purpose, and a continued commitment to excellence. We are excited to build on this year’s progress and continue striving toward our shared goals for growth and success.
Please keep an eye on future updates regarding schedules, school events, and important back-to-school information. We wish you a safe, joyful, and restful summer. We can’t wait to see you again soon!
With appreciation,
Eric Ogle, Principal

Dear 6th Grade Parent / Guardian:
Students entering 7th grade are required to have a vaccine dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) and of MCV (meningococcal conjugate) for individuals who have not already received those vaccines. These two vaccines are commonly given on or around a person’s 11th birthday.
Please contact your health care provider or local health department if your child needs these vaccines.
Irving Branch Immunization Clinic
440 S. Nursery Road
469-941-3470 (se habla Espanol)
Please be prepared, on the day your 7th grader is scheduled to come pick up his/her schedule or by the first day of school, to provide proof of immunization or the notarized affidavit exemption form.
Instructions for requesting the official exemption affidavit that must be notarized and signed by parents/guardians choosing the exemption for reasons of conscience, including a religious belief, can be found at https://www.dshs.texas.gov/sites/default/files/LIDS-Immunizations/pdf/pdf_stock/f11-11755.pdf . The original Exemption Affidavit must be completed and submitted to the school.
Schools are required by law to prohibit any student from attending school until proof of immunization of required vaccinations have been supplied to school office. If the student does not have the required immunizations, they will have to be sent home from school.

Counselors' Corner
Mind, Movement & Middle School Success
Middle school is a time of growth, energy, and change—making it especially important for students to care for both their bodies and minds. Encouraging daily movement, whether through sports, outdoor play, or simple activities like walking, helps students reduce stress, improve focus, and build healthy habits. Equally important is supporting mental well-being by creating time for rest, reflection, and positive connections with others.
One simple way to keep the brain active all summer long is through daily reading. Just 15–20 minutes a day can strengthen comprehension, boost vocabulary, and spark creativity. When students combine regular movement, mindful practices, and consistent reading, they set themselves up for a strong, healthy start to the next school year.

Irving ISD Summer Meal Program Keeps Kids Fed
IISD Food & Nutrition Services cares about "our kids" and other children in the community. Hunger doesn't stop just because school is out for the summer. We want to make sure that everyone still has the opportunity to receive a hot nutritious meal daily.
During our Summer Meals Program, everyone 18 years and younger (no ID required) is entitled to free meals served at any of the summer feeding sites below.
The IISD Food & Nutrition Services Department is proud to offer this program.
Important Information
Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Parents should only utilize the drop-off and pick-up lanes to drop their students off and/or pick them up. Both parking lots are unavailable for student drop-off or pick-up as this is a safety concern for our staff and students. Additionally, please note that the drop-off and pick-up lanes are moving lanes and therefore parking in the drop off lane is prohibited. Thank you for keeping #OURKIDS safe.
