Soaring to Success! 10/16/20
Message from the Principal
Hello Eagle Families,
We want to provide some more clarification about the two positive COVID case emails you received this week to help further assure you all about the situation. When there is a positive COVID test, we will have two different communications. First, we will immediately notify those who were in close contact and require those exposed to quarantine following the health department’s guidance. Second, to make sure everyone is aware of the situation, we will send out a notification to all the entire CRMS community about the case.
In this week’s situations, all who were in close contact in the 2 days prior to the positive test were contacted and are required to quarantine at home. With the first situation, if a staff member or a student was NOT notified Tuesday night, then you are safe to assume that according to the health department, there was not close contact or reason to quarantine at that time. With today’s situation, if you were NOT notified by the end of the school day today, then you are safe to assume that according to the health department, there was not close contact or reason to quarantine at this time. We know that situations like this and on other nearby campuses may cause questions or concerns, but please remember that we are restricted by HIPAA and FERPA laws that prevent us from disclosing personal information about any positive case(s) at CRMS. Therefore, we cannot share further specific details, but please know that we are following Health Department Guidelines and COVID protocols. However, you as a parent, always have the choice this year to change your child’s learning location to virtual learning, if that is what is best for your family. If you decide to make this change, please email your counselor.
Also, please do not forget the following upcoming date:
November 3rd: Student Holiday/Staff development (Please note: this date was moved from Nov. 2nd to allow for voting safely on campus on Nov. 3rd.)
Thank you for your continued support of Canyon Ridge Middle School.
Go Eagles!

As we approach the Fall school picture day, we want to be certain that we have communicated our plans to photograph the students in attendance AND the students who have chosen virtual learning. (Photo Texas school photos plan for 2020-21 including safety protocols.)
Arrangements are also being made to photograph your virtual students. Here is a Photo Texas Video of school photos plan outlining the process for outdoor photos. COVID-19 update for 2020/2021 school year: Currently grades 3-12 testing is only being administered online.
We need you to be an AVID tutor!
CRMS AVID needs AVID Tutors; the position is a virtual, part-time PAID role for the school year. We need tutors on B-days for 6th and 7th periods (9:30 AM - 12:05 PM) for only 2 days per week. The time commitment is minimal, so college students or parents working from home are ideal candidates.
We truly appreciate any help you can provide. Please email, jennifer.schuck@leanderisd.org with any questions.
Duke TIP - CANCELLED for 2020-21
LISD received an update from Duke TIP that they will not be offering programming, including the Academic Talent Search, for this school year. You can read their message here. Typically, the Duke TIP 7th Grade Talent Search identifies high ability seventh graders based on State Test or Intellectual Ability Test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school. Candidates are then invited to take the ACT or the SAT college entrance exams as seventh graders. For questions, reach out to 7th grade counselor Staci Cote.

LISD presents Parenting the Love and Logic Way
DAILY Student Health Self-Screening & Checklist
Either a parent/guardian or the student is required to accurately complete and submit the CRMS Student Health Self-Screening & Checklist form EVERY morning before coming onto school property or getting on a school bus.
By coming to school, you are attesting that you confidently answered “NO” to ALL of the questions related to COVID-19 symptoms and have a very low risk of carrying or spreading COVID-19. If you answered “YES” to ANY of the questions, you are to stay home. All screening information will be kept confidential by the campus administration and the campus nurse.
Students experiencing ANY of the symptoms from the list below, in a way that is not normal for the student, MUST REMAIN AT HOME and a parent/guardian should email the CRMS Attendance Clerk (CRMSAttendance@leanderisd.org) and provide the student’s Full Legal Name, Student ID Number, date and reason for absence.

As the upcoming school year takes shape, we want to ensure the information families need to make important decisions is easy to access in our Launch to Learning 2020-21 guides.
We know that our community still has questions, so we’ve worked hard at cultivating an expansive, updated FAQ section of the Launch to Learning site. The latest additions will be highlighted green for a few days and then moved into a queue under the appropriate heading.
